My 89's throttle cable was stretched by nearly 0.800", so that didn't allow me to open the throttle nearly as far as it should have. That killed me going uphill, when she needed more gas!
I read the Tech article about putting zip-ties on the cable to take the slack out, and liked it, but mine was stretched so far beyond the one he fixed, so I wanted a more permanent/secure fix. After buying a new cable that was supposed to be for a 2.9, but actually turned out to be for a 2.3... I gave my dad a project. What he ended up doing was putting a straw over the slack and filling it with quick-setting epoxy. He put some wadded paper in the end, so that the epoxy wouldn't stick to the blue spring. It worked great! Hope it helps some of you guys!
