I knowiknow, the D35 gets talked about almost too much around here. But, I have a question. Will it take abuse like this and be OK with it?
36" Iroks + wheezer 5.0L.

Looks fine to me. I've had mine spinning all 4 at 4000+ rpm going up some slick rock trying to climb it. Dry traction is alot harder on things that loose mud/dirt.

Yeah but its the shockloads that break things. You could spin all 4 tires smoothly on any surface an not reach the point of failure on the axle. Drop one tire spinning onto a big rock with the full weight of the vehicle on it for a moment and boom! Carage.
 
Mine has held up well to 33s and 35s. Only time I broke anything was bouncing the front end while hard on the throttle, one tire caught traction and busted the driver hub and U joint.
 
I don't like the way the front wheel was bouncing around when you were trying to get out of the hole near the end of video but as long as you keep that to a minimum, it should be just fine. I've been considering 36" IROK's myself. I know of a few Jeep Rubicons running 36" IROK's and they have had no problems with their diff's even with the lockers.
 
Nothing there I'd be sweating over (well, unless it still has stock hubs, 297X joints and half-clips). I've done shit like that on hard dirt and even in rocks. Metalmacguyver is correct though, a good bounce while on the throttle is where you'd be most likely to break something. You bounced a little bit once coming out of the hole there, but that wasn't very hard (and being muddy like that disperses a lot of the shockload that would otherwise occur anyway).

I am running the 'jeep' 37780 hubs, but stock u-joints and c-clips for now.

This sunday is a big test for me, hopefully no breakage.
 
My locked 35 hasn't had anything break for over a year now...

I'm running 35s, and frequently put the pedal to the rug on rocks and mud.

I run 760s with welded clips, Jeep hubs, Moog balljoints and TREs, and correctly set-up Timken bearings.

The 35 is quite strong with the above setup.
 
So, I took it out with the local Jeep club and thrashed the CRAP out of it. (mostly in straight-ish situations) and it did well. No breakage. No locker, but, no breakage, and there was many times where my right foot was buried. They where reasonably impressed at the no breakage, I was happy.
 
I broke no axle driveline parts, I forgot to mention I did break a second part of my home brew lift. whaaa-whaa-wha

i destroyed shafts at all points even open. spiders were getting more common in the last days of my 35 as well.


once i went to 33 and larger tires, i can count on one hand the intentional wheelin trips i have made that i did not bust something in the front axle. but they are cheap to get stuff for in my case and ridiculously easy to work on.


every thrashin adds up.


my thoughts are collect shafts ect and go crazy.:3gears:

Is a Tuff Country bracket? I have those and they seemed pretty beefy to me..

i feel the same way, my d35 is making its first run sunday but i can just about re-build my front end for 100 bucks except gears or beams so i dont really care what i break. even if i need to rebuild the front end i really dont care because i have a growing stock pile of free or nearly free parts. i am shure i will get sick of the headaches that come along with the TTB suspension like most but until that day comes, i am content because i know my ttb like the back of my hand and its super cheap to fix or work on.

5 years and the same front end. 33's and a 302 and it's held up fine. I'm also open in the front and that's help keep the carnage down. Unfortunatly it's also kept me off the top of a few runs but it doesn't keep me from trying. I just don't do a lot of dedicated rock crawling that I can't back off or winch out. My old 28 was a different story. I went through front ends like I was chain smoking. When the local parts yards started running out of them that's when I decided to swap and I couldn't be happier. As for your video.....looks like a blast. Unfortunatly you never get the feeling of angles in video or pictures. I'll bet that was a lot steeper than it looked.
