My 2008 Ranger suffered not ONE but THREE flipping dents on the passenger rear box panel today.:pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff: :pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff: :bawling::bawling:
Im someone who tries to take care of my vehicles and respects anyone elses vehicles that I park next to or enter.

Heres my horrific story::sad::sad:

I went into a Toy R Us this afternoon. Parked where there were no other cars. Normally I would park next to a curb or even further away. But I was only going to be a few minutes. I come back out 5 minutes later to find two cars now parked next to me. I know what you are thinking. These other vehicles were not the culprint of the soon to be dents on my Ranger. I enter my Ranger as I always do. Carefully and methodically. Close the door and put the key in the ignition. Just before Im ready to turn the key I hear a loud and sickening noise,(that will forever haunt me) my Ranger actually shook slightly. I began to fume and at first thought a car nicked the read of the Ranger. I get out and walk around the vehicle to see a BIG flipping BLUE BUGGY rammed into the side of my Ranger.

Some flipping NIMROD most likely left their buggy behind their vehicle and pulled out forward, thus leaving the heavy winds(which had apretly just started up) to carry the buggy down the drive right into my vehicle. My vehicle being larger than the two next to me, left it open to such violation.

I looked at the damage and with blood in my eyes noticed a small ding and a scrap on the paint. Fuming I grabbed the buggy and slammed it into the cart corral and went on my way. I stopped over my parents to and decided to get a better look at the damage. Thats when I noticed that not only ONE but THREE good sized dings were noe on my vehicle. My dad even said he could see them from his front window. twe are about a 1/4" to 1/2" the other is about a 1.5" (vertical) x 1/2"wide dent. This buggy really hit hard.

There should be a personal place in Hell for people like this. This is laziness beyond belief. I have never left a buggy in the middle of a parking lot. I ALWAYS put it in a cart corral no matter how far Im from it.

Now I know many here will say it gives the Truck personality. Will if it was 10 years old I would agree. BUT im still paying on this thing and as far as Im concerned its like a pimple on flawless skin. It looks horrbile and throws the entire look of the vehicle off. Im sure these dings just devalued my Ranger another $1000+.

Just called my insurance company, its gonna be $250 deductable and Im sure they will raise my rates.:bawling::bawling: Im going to try to take it to a paintless ding shop first. But Im not hopeful.

After bow hunting last fall I was bsing with my grandpa at the back of my F-150.

The next day I wash the truck and notice deep gouges in the bed, on the driver side between the rear wheel and the tail light. It is down two white on a black truck so up close they show up pretty good but from 10' away you won't notice. I couldn't come up with what had done it uptil I remembered the day before my grandpa was wearing bibs like he always does and was leaning on the side of the truck... and must have ground the clips in without thinking about it.

I know it would crush his heart if I mentioned it to him as he was really enjoying the company at the time and I know he wouldn't do it intentionally... so I got all wound up to kick some butt until I realized that who had done it pretty much had a free pass. Meh, someday I am sure I will wish he could still scratch my truck.

But don't get me wrong, it still irks me to no end, and it would with either truck.

You might get an estimate before you turn it into insurance, it should be too much more than your deducable to just pay to get it fixed, and I doubt it will raise your rates.

yeah i would just go to a dent fixit place and see how much they would charge and if its not much more than your deductible just have them fix and dont report it.

Yeah Im gonna go tommorow to a paintless ding repair shop. I may even buy a kit and see If I can do it myself. The two smaller dings though may be tough to smooth out. Thanks for the comforting words guys. My Ranger didnt deserve the pain he suffered today by some careless maliciouis toy shopper..:icon_rofl: I did call Toys r US. I told them their cart corrals were full the girl said the manager would call me back. I dont expect anything. I should have taken a picture but was to pissed to think straight. I do know Walmart will cover it if they have their corrals full and buggys laying about. Otherwise stores wont cover it if its just one stranggler cart zipping around. Sad thing is Toys r us have no survalliance cameras so I can prove it.

85_Range4x4, Im in complete agreement. Your grandfathers feeling are more important than the scratches he accidentally caused. And you are correct, you will wish one day he was around to cause scratches. I wish all my grandparents were still around to cause scratches on my vehicle.

I found a scratch on this today....made me want to cry too. It was perfect...now it will never sell for what its worth.

JK!!!! A truck is a truck.........man up! ;)....lol ok maybe if i had a 2008 i would be a little mad, but i would have probably inflicted the scratches myself doing something dumb like driving through brush

Yeah If I had a beater I wouldnt mind at all. My Ranger is just a daily driver and sometimes small utility/hauling vehicle not a mud or brush runner. Im always extemeley careful using it. I had a grandam for 8.5 years and never experienced any dings on it. I was always careful where to park. Again these dings will ruin the trade in value of this vehicle. Maybe by a $1000. Rangers dont hold their value very well as it is.:icon_rofl:

I work hard for my money and dont make a whole heck of a lot. So whatever I buy needs to last and be taken care of. I have a house payment and car payment and really dont like to waste money. The people who carelessly leave their shopping carts lying around are the ones with crapy looking cars a few years old and can care less about others property.

dont involve the insurance company, go to any car dealership and ask who thier dent guy is. Normally they have someone who can do spot dent fixes. They usually charge about 25-50 bux per dent. Once the dents are gone I would not worry about the scratch. You cant enjoy it til you get the first stain anyways.

The first scratch my baby got was while I was trying to remove the capper by myself. I still get mad at myself every time I see it (and where it is I see it everyday). Why didn't I just ask for help.

Yeah the scratch is minimal and can be cover up with touch up paint. Paint scratchs dont bother me as muchg. As long as It remains rust and ding free Im happy.
I will check with the dealer and another place I know of. I probably wont call my insurance company back.

Also, I called and "asked" my insurance company about fixing the windshield on a van I drove once. I never filed a claim. However there is to this day a claim for a windshield on my record.

I got a nick too--someone left a note that they bumped the tailgate right there by the left light. It's irritating when you can't keep anything nice without someone coming along not paying attention and knocking a shopping cart into your cherished pride and joy.

^^hahaha...

I'm not going to paint my 88 Ranger...when I got my Zuki it was flawless...even though there had been body work done to it...but every time I parked it in a shopping mall I'd come out to find yet another door ding on it...at first it bugged me that people were so careless, then I realized it's probably just a bunch of jealous idiots...

The Ranger will stay a little beat up on the outside, and I'm even keeping the old tape player as long as it works because nobody in their right mind would break into a truck to steal it...but I am getting locking lug nuts, and the flamethrowers on the sides in case anyone tries to break in...

Sadly I just discovered there are FOUR dings. Looks like the cart may have hit the bottom first than bounced up and hit the top. Again this thing hit hard and made my Ranger shake. One is hard to see, hopefully all four can be bumped out with any notice. But Im not holding my breath.:sad::sad:
