This is why I hate having a NEW vehicle..:(

I got a nick too--someone left a note that they bumped the tailgate right there by the left light. It's irritating when you can't keep anything nice without someone coming along not paying attention and knocking a shopping cart into your cherished pride and joy.

Ever think of taking driving lessons????

LOL

The first ding hurts on a new truck. After awhile its just " whatever ". I've got 41 000 KM's my 08 now, has a few scratches and chips. 3 or 4 smacks on the windshield. Just another truck now.

Scratches dont bother me. They are easily repaired. Dings are another matter. My rear paneled is now riddled with four of them.Im going to a place tommorow. I will let them do the smallest and toughest ding. If they do a good job on it I will let them do all of them.

I know your feeling. I have a 96 Ranger that was pretty much a good paint job. Well after high school, mother nature, and trail riding, its still in good shape but now with some dings. Mostly from hail stone damage and one ding in the drivers door from me. The one in the drivers door was caused when I slipped on the ice and kneed the door. I still feel pain for it (emotionly). And mother nature is cooking the paint off. Once the paint flakes off to a certain point or another hail storm puts more dents on her, I'm having the entire truck fixed and re-painted.

I know how you feel.

One day I was driving home after pulling a double shift. It was 0630 and so I decided to go to the galley and get breakfast before I went to bed. I should mention that it had been a very bad day at work that involved me getting yelled at for stuff I didn't do.

It was -12 degrees out and icy, so when I pulled up to a stop sign the chick behind me locked up her brakes and rear ended me. Luckily, there was no damage at all, and she was extremely apologetic, so I didn't get too visibly worked up. After I dealt with the base cops, it was 0715, so I proceeded to the galley as planned.

I had just pulled into the parking lot, and was summoning the energy to get out, when someone pulls into the spot next to me, and slams their door into my drivers side, with me still sitting in the car. Then she has the audacity to look at me, shrug, and walk away. I went ballistic. Eventually the Command Duty Officer came over and calmed me down, then explained to me why an Airman shouldn't be berating a Second Class to the point of tears, especially right in public. Possibly because he saw the weariness in my eyes, he let me off the hook without an NJP.

Feeling a bit better, having gotten out the rage that had been building up in my system for several days, I again continued on my quest for breakfast. Right as I walked up to the door, someone came and switched the sign to "closed."

Apparently when it's cold enough, making a really hard fist makes your knuckles split wide open.

If I were you I would go talk to the store manager about the damage. The grocery store I worked at would pay for repairs if you told them. They had 3 security cams on the lot, if it was on tape it was an easy write off for them. Its should be the stores responsibility anyway because they werent keeping up with there carts. :icon_thumby:

Imagine dropping a 15ft canoe off the roof of your wife's brand new Escape! Man....
Yes, dings, scratches, chipped paint sucks when you are not the culprit.

traded my 04 in for an 08 last year . only dings on it were the ones i inflicted myself. i didnt park close enough to anyone else for them to ding it til the last day i drove it. but i guess an out-of-control grocery cart can attack any time. no dings on my 08. yet

My mother has a habit of smashing her door into the passenger side of my truck every time she gets out. She say's she doesn't do it but I have green paint all over and shes missing it.

Then she told me I need to park father away. I park within 6 inches of the ditch. She has a full four feet on the other side of her van. Go figure.

I should start letting my father park his beastly 1987 Dodge Power Ram next to her van. That would put the fear of god in her for that little hotrod.

I bet she'd park as far away as possible.

My 2008 Ranger suffered not ONE but THREE flipping dents on the passenger rear box panel today.:pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff: :pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff: :bawling::bawling:
Im someone who tries to take care of my vehicles and respects anyone elses vehicles that I park next to or enter.

Heres my horrific story::sad::sad:

I went into a Toy R Us this afternoon. Parked where there were no other cars. Normally I would park next to a curb or even further away. But I was only going to be a few minutes. I come back out 5 minutes later to find two cars now parked next to me. I know what you are thinking. These other vehicles were not the culprint of the soon to be dents on my Ranger. I enter my Ranger as I always do. Carefully and methodically. Close the door and put the key in the ignition. Just before Im ready to turn the key I hear a loud and sickening noise,(that will forever haunt me) my Ranger actually shook slightly. I began to fume and at first thought a car nicked the read of the Ranger. I get out and walk around the vehicle to see a BIG flipping BLUE BUGGY rammed into the side of my Ranger.

Some flipping NIMROD most likely left their buggy behind their vehicle and pulled out forward, thus leaving the heavy winds(which had apretly just started up) to carry the buggy down the drive right into my vehicle. My vehicle being larger than the two next to me, left it open to such violation.

I looked at the damage and with blood in my eyes noticed a small ding and a scrap on the paint. Fuming I grabbed the buggy and slammed it into the cart corral and went on my way. I stopped over my parents to and decided to get a better look at the damage. Thats when I noticed that not only ONE but THREE good sized dings were noe on my vehicle. My dad even said he could see them from his front window. twe are about a 1/4" to 1/2" the other is about a 1.5" (vertical) x 1/2"wide dent. This buggy really hit hard.

There should be a personal place in Hell for people like this. This is laziness beyond belief. I have never left a buggy in the middle of a parking lot. I ALWAYS put it in a cart corral no matter how far Im from it.

Now I know many here will say it gives the Truck personality. Will if it was 10 years old I would agree. BUT im still paying on this thing and as far as Im concerned its like a pimple on flawless skin. It looks horrbile and throws the entire look of the vehicle off. Im sure these dings just devalued my Ranger another $1000+.

Just called my insurance company, its gonna be $250 deductable and Im sure they will raise my rates.:bawling::bawling: Im going to try to take it to a paintless ding shop first. But Im not hopeful.

I believe i easily have you beat, but I'll leave it up to the community to decide. I had my truck for 5 days, 2008 fx4 ranger. We had a snow storm earlier in the day, and it was about 10pm now, dark, and snow was falling a bit. Im on the highway, doing about 100km/h, when a deer...now stay with me here, the wording is right, a deer HITS ME. Runs right into my driver door, smacks full force into the rear door, back end swings around and smacks the bedside, before sliding into the rear fender, breaking every clip in the damn thing, tearing it off. So I had seen the deer right before it hit, so I knew what it was. I pulled over, im going to use the word uber, uber pissed, trying to see the damage, after im done, im still pissed, but if a deer is going to hit me, im at least going to get some meat right? Wrong, the deer had gotten up and ran away. I even went into the bush with my hatchet to see if it was maybe laying down just off the road.

Damage...2 dents in the rear door, pushed in the bedside panel with the filler tube, tore off the rear fender.

^^^Ouch. Im sure its all fixed now right? Even so your Ranger was violated and it can never get back what was taken from it.:sad:

DUDE, the new vehicles are designed to "wrinkle" to pass Government testing.

How I miss the IH Scout.

Heck, even these new trucks, just lean on it and you get a ass mark. The whole Ideal of a truck is one word: "rugged"

yeah, it was in december, truck had about 150 miles on it

Came home one day, left my truck on the street infront of the house because i just needed to run in and drop off a sleeping bag and duffle bag. I come out not 5 min later, start going down the road and i notice something...

two dents on my hood. Some little prick hit my truck with a basket ball, and it bounced on my hood twice leaving decent sized dents.

Its a 2009 Ranger, I had it for 3 weeks.

Now I drive around with no muffler and the truck is covered in mud. People didn't respect me, now i dont respect them. they enjoy a wake up call at AM thanks to me pulling in at 4000 rpm and they also enjoy that shit covered brown eyesore infront of their house.

pricks.

those dents will come out probably, my first dent for my 08 was self inflicted
