I have an odd theory of how we see colors. Or the possibility or hell i dont know I just have an idea.

Since we were born we have been told what a certain color should be called. Some one shows you a color, you dont know what it is but they say its red so for the rest of your life that color is now red. Correct? yes. But what if the color I see as red you actually see as blue but since someone has told us that color is red we both accept that it is red without knowing any better. Whats to say we all dont see the world in different colors yet still call them the same "name" because that is what we were taught form the begining?
Can anyone make sense of what I just said or did I eat way too many wheaties this morning? :icon_confused:

i have said this exact same thing before... most people look like im crazy, lol. what if really we all had the same favourite color, it was just called something else. lol.

Exactly!!!! other than going into someones head and seeing through their way while still remembering how you saw through yours I cant see a way to prove any different.

Absolutely true. Since humans invented language, humans got to name things.

How about Up and Down? North, South, East and West?

i wonder if there isa way to figure this out.... anyone have ideas? lol

You point to a color, I check the wavelength. If everybody 'sees' the same wavelength, it's the same color.

A friend of mine who is partially color blind, didn't know (or still doesn't know really) what blue looks like. He says a grey wire (he's an electrician) and a blue wire look almost the same to him. He calls the color grey, as that's how he sees it. He's been that way all his life and is quite used to it. He says that there are other clues for him to use to determine the difference. And yes he's done just fine as an electrician, just a little more careful when dealing with blue and grey wires.

do you think they have done a wave length test with a sizable group of people?
Even with a test like that is there a possibility we can still perceive it differently? I am confusing myself now, I need to think about this when im not at work lol.

i didnt read past the 3rd word. i know what you are saying i have tried explaining this to people they think im insane. plus im color blind so the chances of me learning a color "wrong" are much higher

i dont smoke enough weed to take part in this discussion
