So I am DD'in a 93 s10 with the 2.8 5spd. Needles to say its a good little truck and witch I like. But I'v allways had my eye on the 4 eyed fox's..Well wile lookin on the local tradeing post low and behold. a 86 mustang GT 5spd T top!
Well talked to the guy and he's wanting a small truck. Told him about my s10 and he wants it plane and simple. But qustions about this mustang first.
Biggest thing is what kind of MPG these thing get?
Here is a list of the stuff that has been added to it if that helps any.
E303 cam
bbk cold air intake
cobra r rims
3 inch cowl hood
Full msd igniton
Long tube headers

Yes I know the hood or the rims will not make any diff in the millage I just copied and pasted that.

and pics of it if any one wants to see.

what intake and carb? jetting? stock heads?

should be able to average 18 driving nice.

you could tune to one end or the other, most average 14 where i was from running fat back in the day in detroit.

hiway cruise could see 22 plus behaving.(sub 80 mph)

It's fule injected... And i'd assum stock heads.
My biggest concern is gas as this would have to be my DD, till I get my ranger..I can get around 21 outa my s10 if I drive it right. So 18 would't be too bad considering this thing has 100000x's the power lol.

maf conversion? or vm1 type processor sd?

if its in proper tune 20 plus hiway and 15 or so town

they can do real good or real bad, mostly driver influence.

i seen where guys claim 20 town and 27 hiway with 4 bbl.....most 86 guys went to 4 bbl right away so i assumed you had a 4bbl...

If you are worried about gas milage...by a small gas sipper. I love the older' Stangs!!! Just buy it and drive it. Who cares about gas prices?...we can't control it due to the stock trading mongors who we let rob us blind.

I didn't think anything bigger than a B303 would work with the factory pistons in a '86HO (aside from the cam they are the same longblock as a later non-HO) No valve reliefs in the pistons, E6 heads...

Factory heads should have an "S" cast into the top corner by the valve cover.

IMO with a modified car... all bets are off for milage.
