Thinking about a Pug.

anyone can look tough with a pit or a rott or a gsd. real men can look like men holding a chihuahua. small dogs are cool, cause you can play rough with them and they cant do much damage. they take small shits, they dont eat much, they dont tear up your yard, if you are a renter, they would be more inclined to allow a small dog, its easier to show a small dog who is boss and many other benefits.

I have two big dogs right now and they are still young and they are hyper and can be pretty damn annoying. the chihuahua I had years ago was an awesome dog to have.

Keep thinking. Friend of mine had two pugs. They snort, snore, fart and chew. The ones my friend had ATE HIS HOUSE. Literally. Carpet, sheet rock, trim, doors, screens... All I have seen are incessant barkers. They never shut up and are horribly stubborn. My neighbor has three of the little bastards and I want to bust out the shotgun every time he lets them outside.

I'll never succumb to apartment life. Paying for something your never going to own doesn't make sense to me. I would go for a rent to own on a crappy trailer way before I would get a decent apartment. And before anyone says that I'll have to someday, I can live at home with my parents until I have enough money for a down payment on a place to live or a "rent to own" home. I plan on moving out as soon as it's economically possible, though.

I said the exact same thing when I was about your age...and now I live in an apartment. I don't like throwing money away, but convenience won out.

As for pugs, they are cool little dogs, but their snout does cause them to have breathing problems. That can lead to other health issues later on.

Keep in mind that with most animals the initial cost is the cheap part. It's food, care, vet bills, etc... that makes up the bulk of the expense of having a pet. I wouldn't have a dog unless you have at least $500 stashed away for emergency vet bills...if you think you won't need it, wait until the dog eats something it shouldn't or decides to play with cars. Regular shots and such also cost a lot.

I'm not trying to discourage you from having a dog, but there is a lot of responsibility involved.

make sure you know what you are getting into with a husky. They take a lot of work to train and they can never be trusted off leash. I know this because we have 2 and red and whit and a white one. I love them to death and will probably never own any other breed. They are a loyal breed and full of personality but you give them a split second without your eye on them and they will bolt and chances are you will never see them again. it is suggested that you have a six foot high fence if you own one. They also shed very heavily 2x a year.

If you were thinking about a pug look at puggles or jugs they are cute and they do not have the breathing problems that pugs do.

my friends parents have 6 pugs, 5 tan ones and one black one....betcha cant guess what he calls that one.......and no, dont post the answer please.
Haha. Can't help but laugh.

How about a Shih-tzu. Their a little bigger than a pug. Don't eat much. Self dependent. Don't shed, but will need to be groomed (naturally long hair, but can be cut short). Great alarm dog (very acute hearing, one unnatural sound and she is on alarm mode). Can have a unqiue personality (and use it to bend your willing powers to their level).
I'd be too tempted to breed it with my cousins bulldogs.. :icon_rofl:

seconded!
I love me a snub nose dog!
Don't buy it, get it from a rescue. Even a puppy from a rescue is ok....too many bought dogs :(
I'd have to buy it.. any rescue around here has about 200 cats and 4 dogs.

That's what I was thinking on the poop thing. Wouldn't be too hard to clean up accidents inside while house training and it wouldn't make to much of a mess in the yard. My brother has a Red Tick Coonhound right now in the back yard while he's staying (between apartments) and it leaves big logs all over around his dog house..

Is it just me, or is the white one an American Bull?

That can lead to other health issues later on.

I know, I had a dog for 13 years until we had to have her put down. She was the best dog a person could ever own. Gentle with children and treated them like her own, randomly trailed rabbits in the back yard, knew when to drag her owner off the hill when she smells a bear, hated male dogs, and could defend the home when needed.

I know what you mean about Huskies, my girlfriend had a Husky/Malimute pup for a while, it tore up her yard and was crazy in the house. Her parents ended up taking it to a farm because they couldn't keep it.

And man do I love your dogs. I'm going to have to show my girlfriend that last picture, I love those eyes. We're husky fanatics. :D

I will let you have my purebred Canadian Minkchiuaua and send you a bill for $999.00 so you can have a dog, collect the cash from your aunt, and get your Ranger on the road...

Oh, a Canadian Minkchiuaua is a cross between a mink and a chiuaua...they are very small, phuck like crazy (they like to hump muskrats for some reason), and play hockey with your old socks if you play the cucaracha for them...

But, seriously...a dog? Maybe go to the local vet or animal shelter and ask if they need a volunteer walker...you get to have a dog, walk them so they can crap on someone's yard, and take them back without paying a dime for them...and maybe you'll find one that you can have for a nominal fee that someone else couldn't love properly...

Like I said, the local shelters don't have many dogs, and I'm a puppy person.

One shelter near me has four pitbulls and one german shepard/beagle mix.

Beagle was the male in that relationship. Go figure.

Photos on my Shih-tzu. And if you figure it out. She has claim to all blankets, pillows, chairs, and couches in the house. Bossy little creature. But she does enjoy sleeping in the sunshine.

We have a pug. He's a chick magnet. He'll let people pet him and them acts bad-a$$ when they walk away. He's a charming little clown.

I had a lab mixed with beagle, the nicest dog in the world good form small and was loyal and friendly as ever, IMHO dont go with full bread dogs as they are more than likely imbred and from what my vet told me full breads have more chances of retardations because of this, if you get a good mix you will love the dog to peices and muts are cheaper to buy too

Ive had my pug for 8 years now...let me just say, if your a really lazy guy, laid back etc. the pug will be lazy and laid back. if your energetic and like being on the move, you pug will be more energetic. But in my case, my pug is down right lazy. He literally sleeps about 20 hours a day and does nothing except eat and poop the rest 5 hours. Hes a fun little dog, and i love him but i mean, if you just want an extra lump on the couch then the pug is for you.
