Things you know need to be fixed

Is this a wish list????

Jack up mirror and replace truck...

I like my mirror...it's the only thing that doesn't make any noise, require oil, gas, or other parts that I can't afford...

Rebuild/replace transfer case( howles in 4wd). Remove fender flairs and remove flaking paint and paint the bare steel before winter hits.

Unfortunately I seem to have no problem diving head first into difficult several-hour sparks-flying sledges-swinging sweat-blinding massive-blood-loss projects. It's the small ones that seem to be either too low priority or not interesting enough that get pushed by the wayside, like fixing the leaking brake light cover, tightening up on the sway bar link, replacing the other license plate light or zip-tying those damn loose wires up out of the way of the brake pedal. :D

My right shoulder. Whole arm hurts most of the time, goes numb sometimes. Was just at the doc today about it again, and he confirmed my worst fears. They need to do a nerve test and then it it's where I think it is the surgery to fix it could have me out 6 to 10 weeks.

The 6 to 10 weeks part is why I have been living with the pain for almost 2 years, but it has been brought to my attention by my wife, my pastor, a few of my friends, and a few members here that I have been too irritable lately. It's mostly due to the arm.

The wonderful advice I got at work when I sliced open my hand and damaged the nerves was to "just not use that hand." Following that I was tasked with climbing up a perfectly vertical ladder with a tool bag to fix a duct heater in an attic. IMHO (and it's not any of my business) as long as you can afford it 2.5 months really isn't that long of a time to be laid up. If I could fix some of my health problems at the expense of some mobility for a few months I'd do it. I don't have that option unfortunately ...

1996 Ranger:
Replace ball joints - Need money and will make the squeak noise go away
Replace shocks - Need money, been 50k miles on current ones
Repair front engine oil leak - Not bad as of yet, at least doesn't drip on garage floor, unlike the 96 Blazer.
Change rear brake shoes - Have parts, just need to do it one weekend
New radio - Need money, CD player skips

1996 Blazer:
Change brake pads & shoes - Haven't inspected them myself, dad says its time
New tires - Need money, haven't decided on a tire to have installed
Find rattle - Unable to locate, thinking skid plates
New radio - Need money, CD player hasn't worked since 2001
Engine oil leaks - Need time & money, so many leaks, engine is buried under everything, plus its a 4x4

Might as well cross that one off the list.

You can't fix Jeep.

Yeah, I've been debating if I even want to bother with it. Thought about just parting out what is useable a few times...

No offense to Bill, but since he routinely makes mention of his rust issues, my Heep makes his BII look mint...

Fix the position of the transfer switch shifter key plate. Okay probably not a big can of worms.

That ping that it sometimes make in the front end when the hubs are like. It sounds a bit like someone took a mini ball peen hammer and hit a heavy piece of steel like a frame member. I hear it only intermittently, isn't linked to going over any bumps or turns. I have no idea if that is in the front drive shaft, differential, or the shafts that run from the differentials to the wheel or any bearings there. Possibly even the transfer case. The drive train assembly in the front end isn't super loud, but definitely makes more noise than I like.

I usually like running the few winter months with the hubs locked but this will keep me from doing that. And I know I have some suspension work and rotors to replace in the front end that I am holding off cause I don't want to get that done to pull it off again cause of this ping and front drive train noise.

Touch the front end. Where to start. I know I need to address a locking hub and bearing, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Most bushings

My B2 is starting to get better and better, I don't want to make it look too pretty or some jack ass will run into me guaranteed. Anytime I have a nice vehicle someone decides it should have dents in it. Won't get into that story on my last truck I bought though.

I'm just going to end up replacing whole body panels rather than trying to patch areas that are just kind of missing LOL. Actually from what the local body shop guy said it would be about $2200 in body panels and labor. Given my complete lack of knowledge on trying to do body work myself without any equipment that $2200 doesn't seem too bad. He said he would do the work and primer it at least until I can save up more money to have the whole thing repainted, hate to see that bill.

Yeah...I'd have about $2,000 in just metal...

RUST!

My floor gets wet when it rains and I'm certain there's a hole in the corner of the inside of the cab, just like all 1st gens. Needs new steel and welding...and time.

Something is up with a mount on my passenger side. I think the lip that the actual body sits on is giving me issues. Probably rotted like them all...it wasn't looking so hot when I did the body lift. I put metal down, cut to shape on the inside of the mount but I don't think it was enough. Time to weld there too!

On my kick panel, passenger side, it's a little rotten. Little bit of patch work there.

Firewall rust holes worry me. They aren't big but they aren't stopping either. I can weld but will I be able to fix this? At least it's in a few flat spots...

A rust spot that has rotted out on my door jamb. If you look down and look to the right a little bit, that little corner on the bottom of the cab is rotted out.

So in other words, I'm going to need a rust free 1st or 2nd gen cab. I guess I better find one now and not years from now when I plan to restore this thing!

Other than that, I need to do the front spindle bearings and u-joints. I'm hoping they aren't so ceased in there that I end up breaking an ear off when I press them out with my press!

My trans is old with a lot of miles on it. The gov gets sticky from time to time and I hope it's not band material or something. I need it to last...I am BROKE!

Yeah this body work on my B2 is going to be expensive part cuz the high school shop don't do that type of stuff. However, the auto shop at the high school doing the head gaskets, and the seals has saved me considerably more than $2k I'm sure. Only thing I have to do is buy parts. They just don't have the equipment to do body work unfortunately.

My turn signals stopped working 4 months ago. Have no idea why, been too lazy to fix them. Also my truck needs new body mount bushings, but after the nightmare I went through with my 85, I've been too stubborn to replace them.

Probably the column switch or maybe something simple like the flasher! I just had to do my column switch. Pretty easy!

Valve cover gaskets weep. frame around gas tank needs repair. There is a bad vapor hose connection or something. The front diff leaks, steering box weeps. shocks are bad. The idle is too high. The battery is dead. The body has a dent in every panel. Its a 20 yr old Ford. I feel lucky it runs as well as it does. :D

Shift motor died on the transfer case. Im going to replace with a Shiftster. Need to replace power steering pump. It's noisy as hell. Need front shocks. Need rear tires.
Valve covers are seeping.

Replaced shocks today. Went with Monroe Sens-a-tracs. Much improved ride! Scratch one off the list.
