Some SOB or SOB's got into my Ranger parked in my driveway some night last week and stole a bunch of my
stuff and failed to steal other stuff they collected. They ripped out my CB from
under the dash, cleaned out the contents of my dash shelf and glove box ie
spare schraider valves and tool, tire pressure gauges, compass and even the
paint brush I use to dust off my instruments and radio faces, the wireless control unit for my stereo but did not get the stereo. One quart of motor oil, my spare wiper blades and V-belts, spare electric fuel pump and a small funnel.
They stuffed all this into a back-pack and then found my survival box behind the seats which contained a U-haul blanket (my friend has a franchise), change of clothes with boots, gloves, first aid kit, snake bite kit, lite sticks, flashlight, road flairs, hatchet, Rambo style survival knife and more.
They got away with my survival box but forgot the back-pack leaving it on my passenger seat, the cops now have it.

Nobody said thieves were smart!:icon_confused:

Sounds like when someone tried to steal a 94 exploder I had. Was over at a friends and like an idiot left the door unlocked. When I came out I got in and kicked something on the floor, picked it up and eyeballed it a minute, set it in the change holder. Went to start the car and realized what the piece was. Turned out to be the thumb turn on the ignition, fail #1. Got my truck started, looked for the remote to the stereo... gone, looked for my cds... gone, looked at my rear view and some pewter necklaces I had hanging there were gone, fail #2. Then I noticed the bezel around my radio was on the floor and some fresh tool marks on the dash around it, fail#3.

Couldn't steal my car, had some ignition problems at the time. What really got to me was the necklaces, more sentimental value than anything.

O.K....I need to take back wineheaded...my winehead friends would never steal......

about 6 months ago at wook we went to go move the tractor and noticed the hood was all ripped apart. went to go see why and found out some sob stole the battery and cut the cables off. after that we started to look harder and found out they stole the batterys out of 2 other tractors and cut the cables all off. started looking harder and forund they had gone threw and started cutting the cords off the electric motors. some wires they just cut off to cut them off. it was really weird how they cut cords off things that were hard to get to but left the easy ones. cops came out did there report. 2 days later cop stoped by saying the local scrap yard had a big weird shaped battery with the posts on one end come in. well long story short it was the battery and comes to find out they ripped the place off 2 nights in a row but no one seen it because they went with the stuff you coundn't see. they questioned the guy they took the battery in and he ratted out the other 2 guys. they did over $10,000 in damage

couldn't agree more, in the last 4 months had both the truck box in my Ranger broken into and cleaned out, and my fiance's Tacoma I drove to school broken into, entire stereo system stolen and the one time I left my wallet and checks HIDDEN they got those too. Police here did nothing, no cameras so I ain't gettin anything back and my insurance didn't cover mine, but my fiances was. Hopefully yours will cover the damage too and the cops will nail the scumbag(s) who did it

We have had something like that around here, they take a prybar/sawzall and peel the tractor grilles and hoods apart and scalp the radiators for scrap. That doesn't take long to hurt...

they caught the 3 that did my work and 3 days later a bunch robbed the golf course and stole batterys and smashed golf carts they got caught too

Probably just some dumb kids. Pros would have taken the whole truck.

Again, no alarm?? Why do so many people have such nice stuff in the rides but no alarm system?? I just don't get it........

What's an alarm gonna do? Most people just ignore them anyway because they randomly go off and are pretty unreliable.

No offence to the OP but I question how many pros would make off with a first generation Ranger with the intent do part it out. It seems usually when older trucks wander off they are either found burnt, blown, rolled or any combination of the above.

We used to make a game out of it in school to see who could set of the most car alarms with their truck exhaust in the parking lot. :D

All of my friends and my family and neighbors have alarm systems on their homes and autos. Nobody in this area has ever had an issue with a car break-in or home break-in. NONE. We don't leave anything that can be seen in view in our rides either. I hear about car break-ins a lot in the news media and the ones that get broke into have no alarm systems or they are left unlocked and have valuables in plain site, which is really stupid. Alarm systems work. They deter scum of the earth low life crooks!!! It has been proven over and over again in every consumer report I have read. If you are going to add those fancy wheels and all the extra junk to a truck or car you need to protect it. Makes sense to me.

^^^I agree. My Ranger is the only vehicle parked outside and no one has ever touched it in the 3 years I've had it. I also leave nothing in plain sight. We pretty much all have home and auto alarms in our neighborhood also. No problems in the area in the area in the 7 years we've been here other that an irate ex-girfriend breaking all of the windows of here ex-boyfriends car in the next block. On another note, the OP says he's surprised that they took some things and left others. Not trying to sound insensitive but from the sound of it they left things because so much was kept in that vehicle that they couldn't carry it all......

It DOES make sense, I agree. I guess it really depends on where you are. Where *I* live, no one could give a hoot about a car alarm going off. It doesn't stop thieves because they're usually not in the car long enough to draw attention. And the ONLY reason someone will call the police is because the sound is downright annoying and it's difficult to sleep. Other than that, people's cars get knocked into on a regular basis so an alarm going off isn't... well, alarming. :icon_confused:

YOU ARE SO RIGHT ! If they want in they will bust a window or cut battery cable or something else
