I like the idea of the expanded metal storage area, but I would cap it off with some rubber lining or something. That will shred up your hand/wrist if you reach down in a hurry.

yea i plan on doing something there, will be some foam in the bottom also for a good spot to keep my camera...

and if you cant tell the box in the front is an ammo box so i have a small watertight area for a few things

I'm so glad you are getting the half doors all ironed out & trail tested before I start mine!
I love the ammo can idea.
But, I don't think that foam's going to like them TB rainy days. Oh, wait you hate mud, we couldn't hardly get ya out of the truck that one rainy trip. So sure you won't have half doors on!
