the slo-vo build thread...

if i do the only sheet metal left of the front will be the hood, and it will probably get cut also.

ill have to cut up the front bumper a little but i think i can make it work

finished up the passenger side until i decide how im going to tie them into the bed

Like the sliders. That what I want to do with mine once I get around to it. Need to bring them up and in, but I'll be keeping the round tube as apposed to square.

I don't think that was a good idea welding the tube to the rockers....Now the tube is part of the body, only the tube is welded to the frame=solid mount...and the body is mounted to the frame on rubber mounts=movement during flex...Something is gonna give and break...Other than that I like how you have it tucked up nice and high :icon_thumby:

they arent welded to the body, its still all seperate...there is just flat bar welded inside of the 2x3 to keep mud out from under the door

there will be some tube stand off's from the square tube to pivit off of and the square will be good for sliding over the rocks.

they are pretty solid, im gunna see how they hold up to the hi-lift tomorrow

i have seriously gotta make some stronger sliders. think i'm gonna do something like the trailgear 4runner sliders with hoop.. just seems to offer the best overall protection for underneath and the tube for protection of the curve of the body.

Ahhhh, okay...Good thinking :icon_thumby:

the way we need them around here i wanted mine beefy, there's a hundred times every trip i wished i had the damn things on there so i could just slam the tree or rock and pivit around.

after watching mark in the trail limo turn on a dime around a rock i realized how bad i needed them

Mine were modeled after the TG sliders, too. :D

oh yes, the pivot point on rocks is freaking awesome.. makes things easier lol. i don't know if mine would hold up to that. i have used it for trees and stumps and coming down on rocks, but nothing like hitting it to turn lol..

my problem is that they are close to the body

and work great for protecting the rocker from the bottom. but doesn't protect the side where the door curves out when i turn against a tree or something taller

as of right now mine are only about 3/4 out from the door, planning on adding atleast another 2 inches which when im on FW axles should be pretty close to the edge of the tire

I made mine 1" between the rockers and the inside of the tube, so mine sticks out 3" past the rockers, but is still inside the fenders and tires...

that is what i am looking at going with now, only plated

i love the close wrap around protection for looks, but for in the woods- turning against trees i need it to extend outwards more. other than that i love these...
