the slo-vo build thread...

KP's are way over rated, yea id run one if i could fin a cheep one but at $1K for just a stock axle id be more then happy to run a bj60 and never look back

there are so many companies out there now that make parts for the 44, i have no problem running it. The only real weak point is the axle tubes, which can be fixed with a truss, and the shafts themselves. Upgrade to RCV axles and never break another u-joint or shaft. Spindles can be upgraded to 3/4 ton, and hubs replaced with drive flanges. Granted, building the axle up like that is going to run around 2 grand, but it will be just as strong as a built 60, and you wont have to worry about the ginormous differential housing that the 60's have.

This is exactly why I went (am going...) half ton rather than tons like I planned.

not to mention that if you dont jump the truck you shouldnt have problems with axle tubes. and depending on some ppls driving habits they can get away with alot more on an axle

you can still bend a tube without jumping. A buddy did it in his JK

But that's a JK... the tubes on a JK 44 are actually thinner than any other 44 IIRC.

Meh, I kind of like it now. :P
Plus you can see all about my rigs in my sig, plus pictures if you clicky!

I didn't even think about that. The 60 housing IS pretty huge. It might take two grand to build the 44, but it doesn't all have to be done at once. Good thinking:icon_thumby:

yea for the way i drive a 44 and a 38" tire would do me fine and probably last a while, the way i see it if your on a 60 you also need atleast a 40" tire to keep the ground clearance

we'll just have to see what i find, a 60 would be nice but i dont have to have it

driver side slider is almost done...
