I am putting on the new shoes and hardware and for the life of me am having the hardest time with getting everything to fit together. The bottom where the self adjuster sits, the shoes are too far apart but if I move them closer together, the top where the wheel cylinder pins sit come apart. Do I have something together incorrectly?

is there a chance perhaps that the e-brake is messed up? I can see the cable moving when I push the e-brake but I'm wondering if it's not moving inwards as much as it should be which is causing the problem, and would also explain the issue I've been having with the drums

The e-brake works as intended, I think I had the bracket in there with the spring twisted which caused the problem.

Couple questions:

Does your truck have 9" or 10" drums (would be cast into the brake drum; normally 2.3 would have 9" but heavy payload package could have 10")
Do the shoes match the ones you took off (curve, position of the tabs, etc)?

When you install the remaining springs it does tend to pull everything together.

It's an extended cab with the 10 inch brakes. I got it figured out, I put the spring in twisted so it applied unnecessary pressure. Once I untwisted the spring, everything came together
