The lift saga continues!!! Opinions??

if u sell the trim let me know lol

If I can't use it I will do:icon_thumby:

I was wondering if I could reuse it till I got my flares. Really you are just moving up some ever how much you cut it right? I mean I know it will be a bigger opening, but I wonder if you can just bend it a little to fit? Anybody know?:icon_thumby:

guys with cherokees use f150 springs to lift their rigs about 3" why couldn't you use Jeep springs to lift your rig. they are easily avaialable

I just used what they suggested in the tech forum since I not to educated on this 4x4 stuff. :icon_twisted: But I'm learning quick!:icon_rofl:

Also, I used shocks off a f150, I wonder if I put my oe springs back on if I can use those shocks still? Cause when I was taking the top nut off on the passenger side the damn bolt that come out of the top of the shock broke off! I hope I can just keep theF150 ones on . They are the same length, just fatter. Anyone??????

What backspacing are those rims? 3.75" backspacing and the tire should tuck inside the rear fender when flexing.

Also you may want to think of doing something to lift the rear - either replacing/upgrading the leaf springs or using a chevy drop shackle. A set of 4-door Explorer leafs (as long as they weren't really beat) will bolt up and give you 1-2" of lift. A chevy drop shackle set is around $50 and that will get you 2" of lift.

Part of your rubbing problem in the back could be due to the nose-high situation. Leveled or raked (rear higher than front) would be a better situation. Right now those stiff front coils lifting the front are transferring the weight to the rear - onto what are probably rather worn leaf springs.

You have gained more than 2" of lift. Due to the geometry (and I forget the exact formula), a 2" actual taller coil will net you something like a 3" gain.

Dude,I don't have an fng clue what back spacing those are. How do you measure that out? I have a mental aversion to math! I could do the explorer leafs though. Does it have to be from a 4x4 or 5.0 or does it matter and what year?

naw any explorer leafs work just whether it is a 2 door or 4 door depends on the stiffness. and longer shackles might help like some beltechs. so 1.5-2 in with explorers and 1-1.5 with shackles gtg

lol, rim backspacing is really easy to measure. No math involved beyond reading a tape measure. You take a rim off and lay it face-down so the back side of the rim is facing up. Then put a straight edge across the rim (not the tire sidewall but the lips of the rim) and measure from the rim to the straightedge where the wheel studs go through. That is the rim backspacing (there might be an explaination with pictures on the tech pages or in LMC's catalog, I remember seeing it somewhere but don't have time to look right now).

You dont have to cut the fenders you can roll them. Alot of the mustang guys do this to cram their wheels without rubbing it gives an extra half inch or so where it really counts. Hatman, I wont call you till you get this sorted out lol. I need someone without problems to wheel with so they can pull me out.LOL

HAHAHA, I feel you!:icon_thumby: Give me about a week to get lined out, then it's on like donkey kong! How would you go about rolling fenders?:icon_confused:

Blue, I'll do when I take those wheels back off cause I gotta feelin that the alignment guy is going to tell me I am SOL! Then I get to do it all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two tears in a bucket, you know what comes next.................... Bcost, I'm gonna look into those springs this week. Thanks

Last person I talked to used tin snips and made slits along the arch then used his baseball bat (like arolling pin) to roll the sliced metal up. However since Ive never accomplished this myself, I cant say for sure how it would work. But if it dont work you can still cut the fenders, lol.

Good news, The alignment guy said he could put in shims and get it straight for $150.00 out the door. So I think I'm going to let him. Is that high or good?

it's better than mine where they wanted 350 to install a camber kit on a 00. now that is high. you doesn't sound too bad if your camber jawn is all rust and been on there forever
