Well i've been busy modifying a logger style box to fit on the ranger. I'm tired of leaning it up on trees and having the sheetmetal bend all to shit.

So far i've built new larger and wider fender openings, bobbed the box 8", and added some body armor/side skirts to the box.

Still need to locate the filler neck, prep the box for bedliner, prep the sides for paint and the bottom for rock guard.

I'm not sure about keeping the box black. I might get some paint mixed to match the truck and spray the sides, painting the skirting/fenders rockguard black like the lower body line of the cab. I think it just looks out of place being black.

Also have to cut the frame back to the shackles and build a receiver hitch rear crossmember and a build a bumper.

Things still to be done:
Bedline inside of box
Bend/install roll bar/hoop behind cab back to tailgate
Build a 1" lift zero rate addaleaf to pick up the rear end from the weight of the new box and tire carrier

Ryan.

When I swapped over leaf packs, I took an add-a-leaf pack out as it was installed on my truck when I got it. If you're interested in it I think its still sitting beside my parents house in Kitimat and so long as my brother isnt using it (I dont think he is) you can have it.

Let me know.

That looks nice. I like that tire carrier

Thanks.

I really liked the tiregate idea and i'm happy with how it turned out. I actually got the hinge idea from another member of the site (thanks 88blueb2)

I have a buddy with a Toyota and he is interested in a tiregate like that. Can you post some more pctures of some specifics, like the hinge, latch, what you are using to secure the tire, etc? I see it looks similar to a fabtech hold down, but I am interested in seeing some more of it.

It looks great! I like the way it came out!

Heres some upclose pictures of the hinges and the tire carrier without the tire on it.

The hinges are both identical and open both ways as well as being reversable so you can run the tire carrier the other way around and have the tire hanging out of the bed prerunner style for more bed space if needed.

The carrier frame is build from 1" sched40 pipe bent with a princess auto 12ton pipe bender (same as harbour freight) The wing nut is built from 1/2" sched 40 and a big washer and a peice of tube that fit inside the rim center hole. I used 1" redirod and a nut to hold the tire down. The nut is welded into a peice of 1/4" plate steel. All the pipe was notched using a drillpress and hole saws.

The hinges are solid steel pins that are inside of the 1" pipe that i used to build the carriers frame. There are 2 3 1/4" compression springs insde the pipe aswell to hold the latches shut and to prevent rattling.

Hope that helps, any other questions let me know.

are you gonna move the tire up a lil more so you have more bed space when you pop it on the other way?

I think I see a few hints from a Jeep J-truck on that thing

Very nice work though. ;)
I like the reversible gate.

That looks really good.

No I don't think I will, i like where it sits now height wise, you can still see over it in the rearview mirror
