In my experience, the best exhaust for a 2.9v6 is one cat, going into a single in double out flowmaster 40, sounds like a v8 and not a stupid honda civic, i will try to upload a video of the exhaust soon for comparison soon, got to buy a video camera though, lol

I would definately like to hear that. I NEED to do the exhaust on mine. Right now I have the cats back to no muffler then a 45 degree dump out the side right in front of the leaf springs. Sounds good now, just a little loud, and really raspy on decel.

Thats almost exactly what mine sounds like, mines a tad deeper, and im happy with it too, yours is one of the best sounding 2.9 ive ever heard, good job man

Thats definetely a nice sound for a 2.9, good job man. :clapping:

thats the set up i had on my 88.sorta quiet and lopey getting louder when reved.i had a single exhaust 40 series and it was too loud for me.i put my huntin' exhaust(stock) back on though for creepin around quietly.also its annoying to let everyone know exactly how much you need to punch it everytime you go up a hill or pass with the torque monster 2.9

it would probably sound a lot better than mine, there's not much u can do to a 2.9 to make it sound anythng but a honda civic, but it would sound good i think

Will it pass emissions, how much does it cost(i already have the flomaster 40s on it, i just need the price for the single cat and w/e else u did.), and could you get some pics?

Yes a single aftermarket cat will pass emissions no problem. My rig had slightly better emissions than my dads rig with the stock cats.

ya, ill try to get some pics tomorrow, i actually bought two cats because i wasn't sure if i needed them, so i got one just sitting in the shed, all it was was a cheap cat that didnt do much anyway, i will try to get the manufacturer though, can't remember how much it cost, my dad did the exhaust, im only 17 yrs old, but he gave me truck when i was 15 and i've been in love with it

in va, we dont have emission laws either, forgot to say that, but if it came from the factory with a cat, it has to be on there

I just got done rigging a borla onto mine, and i think it sounds pretty mean

note the video is not meant to show anything and you can see the old tailpipe laying on the ground not moving lol

88 Bronco II with borla Turbo

if you want loud, run open cats, it resonates like hell. i run it like that every now and then, right now i have the rear cat drilled a bit and dumped it after that to stop the resonating. it s about as loud as having the 40 on there but souds better, not quite as deep but not as ricey.

nice, i have ran no exhaust at all at it sounds pretty mean, but i like my 40 better
