The Ranger was a good selling mid-sized pickup. Why exactly Ford gave it the ax? Probably to cut spending. If everyone jumped up to an F150 then the Ranger production could be stopped completely and save tons of money. Its cheaper to build 5 million of one item, then two items at 2.5 million. Why can't we have the global Ranger? Again, it costs money to get a vehicle ok'ed by the government. Lots of bureaucracy and expenses in vehicle emissions and the fuel industry. In short, the move to get rid of the Ranger line and not bring in a replacement will save Ford a considerable amount of capital. Considering the way our economy and political climate in this country is going I can't really blame them.
And the current global Ranger is ugly, so American's probably wouldn't buy it anyhow. At least not the current Ranger owners. The only global Ranger I liked is the one from Australia. Photo attached.
