The NEW 2009/2010 Ford Ranger

I'm sure most all of you are familiar with the Ford Probe, It was slated to be the next Mustang back in the eighties. Well, the Mustang crowd got wind of the "New front wheel drive Mustang" and started a letter writing campaign telling Ford what a huge mistake that would be to make the Mustang a front driver. As you all know, the Mustang remained a RWD car, and where's the Probe today? Out of production and in your local wrecking yards.:word:
So get out your pens and paper, because in this electronic world, an e-mail does not show passion like a 18 wheeler full of letters does.
AKA: the pen is mightier than the keyboard.

Respectfully submitted; Rick " If you cut me, do I not bleed Ford blue?"

I remember the Probe, use to have one. They were pretty decent little coupe's. But what you're saying is that if we all write an actual letter to Ford we may have a possibility of saving the ranger name? What's the address? I wouldn't mind seeing if I get a reply.

I can see where they are selling more fullsize pickups over the smaller ones because of power and fuel economy. I have an 84 with a 2.0 that would get (when it ran) 16-18mpg and i also had a 99 Silverado with a 5.3L v8 that would get 14-20mpg (depending if 4wd was engaged) If I was to buy another brand new truck i would problubly buy a fullsize because of the power available at stock. My friends 94 4.0L ranger gets about the same as my silverado did also. Dont get me wrong I love rangers they are tough dependable trucks but when you look at it as a power vs Fuel milage point of view the small trucks arnt "worth it" ....but then again coming from a 4wheeling point of view the rangers are so much smaller they will go just about any where lol.

What everyone must realize is that Ford is moving towards the world being one large market. Their whole plan is not have seperate products for each market. The new NA Ranger will be based on the Australian Ranger. This will be the Ranger sold all over the world. They are working on globalizing their entire product line. Having three or four different Rangers is dumb when one will suffice. You will not be able to change their mind.

BTW...I got this information from a close friend who works at Ford.

RIGHT! Just like the focus was supposed to be a "world car"...my ass, the euro focus is bad ass, and look at the shitty 08 redesign we got! BULLSHIT!!!

They're working on that. It's supposed to happen in the next few years. aka next redesign

It's a shame that Ford is an american country but some of the nicest Rangers are overseas.

Some of the best Fords are over in Europe and south of the border. I have contemplated flying to Mexico to buy my next Ford and then driving it home.

Ford Focus ST, Ford Mondeo, Ford Ranger...They are better everywhere else because America always wants bigger autos...

That letter writing thing I think worked when Chryler changed the Jeeps headlights to the now common square one. Bumper stickers and letters stated "Real Jeeps have round headlights" started showing up. Jeeps went back to the round ones. I'd love to see Ford bring over from Austraila that UTE that is a cross between the Ranchero body with the Mustang running gear. 380+ hp with a 6-speed.

All the Rangers I've seen overseas have all been four doors with a very short bed. Do they make a single cab anywhere?

I was out this morning test driving the 08 Ranger. The salesman said it will be the last year for it. We ordered some extras and we have to get our order in this month before the line is shut down for good. Sad day indeed. We have had tonnes of these trucks (in one form or another) and each and every one of them has been just great. My son didn't want to see the Explorer go until he hopped into the new Ranger. While we were leaving the dealership he asked why we were leaving mommy's new truck there LOL

n/m. That was uncalled for.
