That is looking really good Kage. All you need now is for Robs to squirt some paint on that box, a couple passes with the grinder and you will be twisting drivelines in no time!

awesome stuff.. i'm jealous..

Thanks for the comments guys!

I've run into a bit of a hiccup with the steering:

Since I pushed the axle foward, my pitman arm isn't going to be nice to the tie rod. So I either have to:

- Go with a flatter pitman arm, which means I'd have to notch the frame out to keep my full swing (Not real excited about that prospect).

-Move the axle back to help with the clearance (That's not happening).

-Limit my uptravel to keep everything clear, this seems counter productive to the build.

-Run the tie rod in the stock "low" position. While that sucks, I'm not really seeing any other "easy" solutions. The DOM I'm using is 1/4" wall 1.5" OD, so It should be able to handle quite a bit of abuse in that location.

Unless I'm missing something, this is kind of a bummer.

yeah i'm thinking relocate the steering box..

your pumpkin also seem's awfully close to your engine crossmember? might just be the angle the pictue is taken from,

and I dont know if you plated the inside of the frame but i'm pretty sure there is some ribbing in the frame that start's just after the steering box, but that dosent mean you cant cut that out and plate it as well.

Can't you just move the steering box so it clears the tie rod?

Moving the steering box looks to be a royal pain since the frame is "formed" around it. I'd have to cut out a large section of the frame to make that work.

The photo is deceptive as the pumkin is offset of the K member some. I still need to trim a little more but it looks like this:

As for the steering, I did a little drinking on it and I think everything is going to work out ok after all. This photo is nearly at full compression (still has about 3/4" more uptravel to go) and full lock:

So while it dang tight, I think I'm good to go. If not, I'll go ahead and notch the frame to clear a longer/flatter pitman arm.

I almost had the steering done, but one of my threaded inserts is boogered up for my heim. So I need to see about getting another one in.

Thanks for the comments guys!
