Nice truck.
Though I might be biased, having the same one, minus the AC.
You mentioned not being able to lift because of stabilitrak. Doestch says they have a lift spindle that will work on our trucks. The place that does their casting is currently closed because of Covid, but I plan on ordering some when they open back up.I'll let you know if it works out.
You can also run lift coils. I currently have coils 2 inches taller up front. I have the fabtech upper arms on order. They say its for up to 2008 trucks, but I think they will fit.
The flat bed looks great. I was thinking about one for my truck, but I came across a great deal on a Spacekap, so went that route instead.
Thanks!
I have also heard the doetch spindles work with stabilitrak, but for every post I've seen saying they work.. I've seen just as many saying they don't. Although, after a quick look at their website I did see that they do have separate part numbers for 01-09 and 10'+ spindles... Hmm.
Any word on when production will start again?
A couple weeks ago I ended up ordering 1" spacers and shackles that have holes for 1 and 2", I was planning on putting those in somewhat soonish.. But if spindles will be available in the near future I may just hold out.
I really don't like the idea of losing downtravel with the spacers, so spindles are superior in my eyes.
Tell ya what about the bed... Next time I'd probably just buy one lol.
I'm at 600 or so already for material and getting the c-channel bent at a local shop, still need to purchase wood for the decking (right now it's just expanded metal "grating"), buy stain and brushes to apply stain, gallon of tractor paint was 40$, a metal blade for my circular saw was 30$,a a few cutoff wheels and flap wheels, bottle of gas for the mig, a bunch of welding wire, tail lights, Will need to fab a rear bumper that looks more at home under a flatbed than the factory one.. And time. I'm no fabricator.. so it's taken me quite a bit longer than I expected to get all this together. It was a solid 8 hours or so tuesday to get it to where it is now.. Spent at least another 8 on it a few weeks ago.. and I still need to spend another day slapping on more coats of paint and a few other things.
1200 or so for a nice aluminum one, in hindsight.. Probably the better deal. I'll probably be close to 1k into this one all said and done so... Yeah...
Oh well. I enjoyed the time I spent making it lol.
Spindles : Last I spoke with Doetsch they were hoping that they will be able to be casting new spindles the beginning of August.
Coils: Ya, the ride is kind of shit with reduced down travel. I think down travel is being limited by the shocks and upper control arms, so I have fabtech UCAs and longer fox shocks on order. I really hope this fixes things.
