When the union workers get $1/year, I'll be happy.

Those CEOs were over-comped, but they deserve more than $1.

Yo,
I think the CEOs (Ford especially) are understanding it. If he leads the company to accept the bailout, then his salary will drop to $1 a year. I think he understands better than the banks that there are conquenses to taking the bailout. And he is going to do everything he can to not take it, but would like the option incase things get worse.

I think it was Jay Leno that said last week that the three "Big" CEO's had seen the light and were not going to fly the corporate jets this time but were going to car pool, driving a Camry. That said a lot on the state of what the auto makers are facing.

Ford gets it. GM doesn't and Chrysler is ....... well....... Chrysler........ they have never gotten it. Ford will be the one to weather the storm.

A GM VP pulled the same trick over in Europe quite a few years ago when they were in the same situation there, over a union dispute and wage issues. He gave his multi-million dollar salary to the employee's, and said he'd take no salary. He never mentioned bonus's, and still took home a cool 7 million dollars that year....

Where do you guys get the $1 a year thing? It is a purely symbolic move. All three of these guys make a couple million in base pay but bring home like $10 million more in bonuses, stock options etc... Their base pay means practically nothing to them. They still will bring home millions per year.

I was watching the news yesterday and they had a worker from UAW talking about how they used to buy forien parts to help make parts for GM now there building is for sale so they are rethinking, and are now going to buy american. well duhh!!! :icon_confused::icon_idea: Even the other Big three HONDA, NISSAN, and TOYOTA buy american i work for HAM (Honda of America) and 90% of the suppliers are right here in the good ol' USA 5% in Canada and 5% in Japan and i know that Nissan and Toyota share mabye not all the same suppliers but most of the same suppliers. and look they my be droping in sales as well but there not begging for help, and killing off everyones jobs.
