The autumn years of the ICE should be the golden years for the ICE.

You could say that (very loosely defined) aircraft carriers are quadruple hybrids. Nuke runs a boiler, boiler powers a turbine, turbine makes electricity for the props. A nuke/steam/turbin/electric powered vessel. But same thing as the locomotive. Nuke powered with a complex transmission… and engine for that matter.
And diesel remotes

Not sure I would call that a hybrid
Hybrid, in my opinion, means something can move using two different power methods
Like the new Maverick Hybrid can run on just fuel as needed and only electric as needed, and both as needed

Most Chevys are hybrids, you use the engine when it works then you can push them when its not working, Hybrid :)

Nuke/steam/turbine can/do drive the propellers in Nimitz class carriers, no electric motors for props
I think the USS Zumwalt, destroyer, is the only electric motor powered US warship.........so far
And its exactly what you said, nuke/steam/turbine/electric, not sure if its a Hybrid "drive" for propellers

Again, in my opinion only, if it is powered solely by an electric motor(s) then its an EV, where the electricity comes from is another story
If its onboard, like a fuel burning engine, or nuclear reactor, and generator, but engine is only used to generate electricity then I wouldn't call it a Hybrid, some may

Any EV always gets its electricity from somewhere, if not onboard, then dams, solar, wind, coal, oil fuels, ect.....are used to make the electricity to charge battery packs
So Hybrid?

Same as ICE gets its power from somewhere else, long dead dinosaurs and plants, and a refinery
So dinosaur Hybrid, lol
My Ranger is a RED T-REX, back off :)

What if its like the neighbors 20 yr old civic and burns gas AND oil...

hybrid or flexfuel?:ROFLMAO:

Interesting. So a train locomotive operates similar to Toyota's Hybrid system, where the diesel engine assists the electric motors. Ford used the same hybrid system in the Escape. The diesel engine actually applies power, which is supplemented by the electric motors, that actually drive the wheels.
Close, it's not Toyota's hybrid system, it was designed by an American company named Haldex.

Damn, even Ron with the Chevy joke from orbit.

Chevy trucks are no joke, owned a few, wasn't laughing much, which is why I am a Ford truck guy

I do like Chevy cars, they just can't build trucks very well

The two GM fleet trucks I picked up have been reliable so far, aside from some EVAP gremlins and a cluster issue. Still, a lot of power in very small packages with the LS 4.8 and 6.0.

I'm not a fan of their front ends though. GM front suspension is vomit inducing for work purposes. Much prefer Dodge/Ford setups.

With the old diesel electric subs the diesels could help out on the surface too.

Later standard battleships circa WWI were coal fired (later converted to oil fired) steam turbine over electric. Intent was the keep the boilers/turbines running at their ideal speed to help fuel economy. Later designs went to geared turbines and cut out the electric bits.

To be fair....the old square bodies were hellacious trucks. I had a 78 K20 with a 454/4sp and there was nothing that would stop that truck. literally.

Did you try putting it up against a 3.0? I read somewhere recently that a 3.0 could rip the crank out of a 460.

Must be related to the 300 if it has that much power.

I have the sm465 in my square.. with the 6.55 "first" gear. Havnt really driven it cause it needs a ton of work but God damn I'm so silly excited to do some creeper gear & low range stuff lol.

Thats what was in mine IIRC. Creeper low and 4low and it would walk up a side of a building.
