The autumn years of the ICE should be the golden years for the ICE.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Sooner or later, nobody's going to be able to make a gas motor vehicle. We all know this. And it's unfortunate... because after 100 years or whatever were starting to be able to do some real cool stuff with gas motors.

This MUST be a bummer for manufacturers.

I think it's why dodge is putting the hellcat motor in everything... challenger, ram, Durango, Cherokee... they might as well. They're going to lose the chance to do such things soon.

Cadillac is/has been making some wild stuff.. the Blackwing V8.. I read they're going to be selling a big power twin turbo escalade soon.. might as well.. not going to be able to soon.

This is why I kinda think we're in the golden age.. everyone's gonna (hopefully) be making some wild ass stuff for their "last hurrah" with internal combustion.

Thoughts?

Internal combustion isnt going anywhere. Not in any of our lifetimes. This EV push will fizzle once we get a more oil friendly administration and people realize how inferior electric is for practical purposes.

My opinion.

I will literally never own, operate, or ride in an EV.

Ever.

You cannot force me, nor inconvenience me into it.

Currently remodeling the barn in the background to make room for horses if need be.

I trust an animal.

I trust a non-connected machine, sorta.

I will NEVER trust an algorithm that has NO manual/mechanical override.

Electric is coming, like it or not. First for urban dwellers who only short commute, then as battery technology and standardization improve we'll travel long range just stopping to exchange batteries at 'power stations' . Rural folks like me will have solar recharging so we can stay working around the farm.

Flying vehicles are coming. Then drive-bys will consist of paperbags full of poop thrown on the public below. It's coming.

Combustion engines will go away, but as said before, not in our lifetime. Restrictions will come as they (the gov't) feel it is cleaning up the environment. Some how they feel the big energy plants are the lesser of the two sides ( vehicles or power stations). I don't know, the EPA regulates those so who knows.

They will have some work to do on the support structure, charging times, and cold weather charge retention before an EV can become fully main stream.

The biggest challenge is long range driving. People have done it by planning their routes to the existing structure out there and bathroom and meal breaks. So it is possible but limited to do at the moment.

I’d rather stick with ICE.

As a side note to the use more electricity because it’s more environmentally thing. They push for more electricity to be used and then (at least around here) send out informational mailings about how your electricity usage rates and gives you “bad boy” ratings for using more than others around you.

Pick one.

Rear wheel drive 6.2l supercharged V8 w/ 6speed manual transmission.

No driver assist available with manual transmission.

I may need to change my pant

I respect the sentiment.

Growing up on diesel electric 2 to 3k hp drilling rigs, I appreciate the capacity.

I have been building i.c.e. engines and machines for over 40 years. And only enjoy the v8 engines. I will pipe those...but anything else I make as quiet as possible.

So yes I have bias.

But you are too young to make that promise to yourself.

Over half of registered democrats are ready to load me in a train car and send me off to safe for them camp.

That's a quarter or more of the population.

That is because their lives don't involve actual critical thinking and adherence to the scientific method and the brutal reality of the laws of physics.....unlike you and I.....we fawk up ...people die. . Or wish they had.

Yet ..I admire and am jealous of your hubris .

But people are stupid. Review last 30 months.

Weak people can not wait to force your hand in the name of the greater good.

I don't think we will see the demise of ICE for at least the next 20 years. Manufacturers have said that they will stop making them, but I think they will transition to Hybrids when they realize the infrastructure will take a long, long time to be put into place.

The only way that they could enforce a ban on ICE would be to make gas ridiculously expensive, which would cause many problems.
