My temperature indicator has been dead since I bought this truck few months ago. I am going to start by replacing the temperature sensor and see if it does the trick but where is this sensor located on a 1990 4.0l Ranger?
Thanks a lot

I don't know exactly where he is but look near themostat housing. The sensor probably just have 1 wire on it. To test the circuit, just unplug the wire to the sensor and plug it to th groun(your indicator must move to the hotter position, remove the ground from the wire and the indicator must return to the cold area).

I found it. It is not located at the thermostat but close to the intake manifold that is why I could not find it. I tested it like you suggested and sure enough the gauge went to max hot. Thanks again
