I put an Exploder OHC in my truck about a week ago. It was fine for about and hour, but now the temp hardly changes. For a while it was stuck at 57 so I thought it was stuck. I took a heat gun and blew on it. It shot up to like 125, but then it dropped back to 57 (by the way it was like 40 outside and I had the temp sensor sitting on the hood of the truck that had been sitting all night). So I grabbed another temp sensor that I had from another console, it said 35 for about 3 days, now it is stuck at 30 (its 47 now)

So question is, Where can I get a new one? (already checked advance auto) or Is there an easy fix?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I don't think I ever hooked up the speed sensor wire, where is the best place to tap into it on a 1994 Ranger with a manual?

Can I even hook the wire up on my truck? My truck has a cable speedo, but there is a sensor on the back axle for the RABS

Where's the sensor mounted?

I mounted it on the core support (same place it was on the Exploder)

Your 2.3 has factory cruise control?

I don't have cruise, and I hooked to the wire before it goes through the firewall (I followed th wire to the sensor).

I have seen 2.3's with factory cruise before.

Sorry, I should have quoted the post. I was actually addressing locovaca with that. I wasn't sure if cruise was an option with 2.3's, but you've answered that now. If you ever run into one in the junkyard, I'd love to get the pieces if they will make you a good deal.

I ran into one at the JY, I pulled everything for the cruise. They said that they wanted like 300 for it:bawling:so I sat it all back in the truck for somebody else.

Next time see if you can just grab the cruise throttle cable. I think everything else can come off any same-ish year RBV, so they're a lot easier to come by.

I thought about that a week later. lol.

That's always how it works, isn't it? I'll keep an eye out on my end, but junkyards with old vehicles are pretty sparse around here from what I've found.

Around here they seem to only have S10's and Hondas

I retrofitted in my cruise. Just took a cabin wiring harness, cruise computer, steering column, servo, and a (currently retrofitted) 4.0 throttle cable. I actually found a 2.5 with factory cruise but alas, as you know, the throttle cable I need only came on 93-94's. I use the word "factory" in a sense that it's the standard components, not an aftermarket kit.

When I started my retrofit I actually saw some 2.3 cables on eBay, and of course they're not out there anymore. My search continues...
