TELL ME IT'S WRONG

Hello,
While installing a fresh water pump in the BII's 4.0l (1994 Explorer OHV California), I took a moment to look up the torques for the water pump and water pump pulley when I saw this coil pack lay out...PLEASE TELL ME THAT THE CHILTON'S MADE AN ERROR book illustration shows 2, 3, 1 on the right front to back and 6, 4, 5 on the left, front to back: I have my wires 1, 2, 3 on right and 5, 6, 4 on left ???

I've never seen a Ford V6 or V8 that didn't have #1 on the right side.
The 1-4-2-5-3-6 firing order is why the Offenhauser dual port worked so well on a 2.8 and so lousy on my 351.

Well, of course. That firing order totally ignores 2 whole cylinders in the 351.

No doubt there is a correct order and I can't tell you which of the ones posted is it, however...

The coil pack on these consists of three separate coils, each firing two cylinders. As long as two consecutive cylinders (by firing order) are not on the same coil, is it really going to matter? Also, electrically, how are the coils laid out within the coil pack, and are all replacement coil packs made the same?

I always went by the diagram when I replaced them, but couldn't tell you which diagram, and now I wonder it it was correct.

If it's not, it has to be a different part number. That's the whole point of interchangeable parts. Every part of one part number has to be made to the same identical specification and function identically.

I was more referring to who knows what is actually coming off those Chinese assembly lines disguised as our coil packs.
