So I'm still planning my 302 swap with a T5 and I wanted to know what slave cylinders you used in your swaps. I was thinking of hetting this and fabbing up a bracket to make it fit. But then I saw that the manufacturer recommended at master cylinder with a 3/4" bore. Us Ranger dudes use a 5/8" bore IIRC. :annoyed: Same story with the Willwood slave cylinder.

I need some help on this one guys.

A little input...
If you're using Tri-Y headers, there isn't room for a pull slave like you've shown.
I'm using an '83/'84 Ranger diesel slave, but any Datsun style slave will work. And they're very inexpensive.
I modded the clutch bracket on my '97 (same as '95+) to accept an older Ranger 7/8" bore master that bolts to the firewall.

If you use other headers that allow you to use a pull slave, you won't need to make and bracket, it will sit right in the cable hole on the bell housing.

If you check the link in my sig, it goes to my initial swap thread on another site. (there are actually three parts to it..) The original thread has pics of my clutch, the mods needed for the master cyl, pictures of a pull slave on my bro's 5.0 RX7, and measurements of the header clearance while discussing using a pull slave.

That's the stuff I wanted to hear... thanks man!!!

Also, I was just going to go the Advance Adapters route. From what I've read Tri-Y's can be a big pain in the ass.

The AA headers are not worth it, too expensive. Use hedman 88500's, not the 89500's (ranger v8 swap specific headers), the 89500's have been known to give some people fitment issues...

88500's? I haven't seen those anywhere. Are those on Summit?

88400?

On a 2wd I would go tri-y in a heartbeat. The 88400's fit ok with a bodylift but otherwise point at the firewall and pinch the dipstick against the cylinder head.

Two more of my cents...
T5, Mustang mounts, Ibeam Ranger... That just screams to use $150 Tri-Ys. I've also seen decent looking stainless ones on ebay lately.

Maybe its 88400's I'm thinking of...I'm a little tired to think straight...

Oh, like these Patriot H8426's?

Tri Y'a get my vote. They will be the next set I try...

You guys are actually making me consider Tri-Y's. My problem with them is this: although they sound beautiful, and although they offer greater torque, they are all different. It's too hard to to tell what works and what doesn't without actually ordering them and bolting them on. It really just seems more like a PITA than it's worth.

I had a set I was going to try, I mocked them up and noticed that they not only interfered with my 164t bell but the DS pointed right at my t-case output. Your setup might work better but it would have been in about the same exact place as the driveshaft in my more stockish truck.

Teddyzee after finding the thread within your other thread I noticed that that a poster said this:

later I found that the 92/4.0 master cyl. was exactly like mine except 3/4" bore..problem solved.

That sounds promising. And after checking Rock Auto (damn that site rocks so ****ing much!!!!!!!!) I can get it for roughly $40. Honestly I think it's worth a try.

What you talking about? I'm stock, ish :D

Stick, teddyzee has the same body style truck you have (his is a 97), he is 2wd using the T5 and tri y's. He is using the mustang mounts, but the plate style mounts will work with this setup as well...

I used a Nissan slave on my setup. Just bent a piece of steel and drilled a couple of holes for the bracket. A piece of threaded rod does the pushing.

Tri=Ys here too but yes, the cheaper brands tend to have some fitment issues. I think they have been redesigned a bit to make them easier to manufacturer.
