Taurus 3.0 swap?

Just swapped an '03 Taurus engine into a '99 Ranger. Didn't swap head gaskets. After looking I believe FWD head gaskets are fine for RWD applications, but not the reverse.
But I wouldn't do this again, I'd look further afield for a good used RWD 3.0, there are too many other things that need attention/parts/work and it's an easy $500 for this conversion stuff which would go a long way toward shipping costs.

How much more do you need? I have a locked up 3.0 in my ranger now, what would I need that is not on the truck already? Even if I gotta go down to short block, I got all the parts I need. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You've basically got all the stuff you need except gaskets.
I highly recommend you not drop the PS pump on the floor and break the pulley. :)
Also broke the crank position sensor, plastic was too brittle.
Also had to remove a windage tray from the bottom of the FWD engine before the RWD oil pan would fit. Windage tray is sort of built into the RWD oil pan.
The '03 engine is a much nicer casting with better gaskets designed for it. I used the FWD valve covers instead of the Ranger's.
I created some additional problems when I bought a newer upper and lower intake manifold because I wanted the composite upper which is supposed to be good for a few extra ponies. Came from a newer 3.0 and didn't have EGR fittings. The manifold itself also wouldn't fit down over the pushrods, which I'd left just the way they were. Had to trim some material from the "ears" of the intake manifold ports where they mate up to the head before the intake would fit over.

I already posted my thoughts on head gaskets under the sticky at the top of this forum

So a gasket kit for the ranger 3.0 and I'm ready to go. Thanks
