So, i'm looking at buying this really nice 1994 Ranger, an its been customized slightly; shaved an filled roll pan an shaved tailgate. Looks nice, but i love the old tailgates (92 an older). Would these tailgates fit without too much modification? I think the tailgate with the big F O R D would look nice on it. thanks for the help!

well ive seen a couple 1st gens with the 94 tailgate, so i guess it will fit right in:icon_thumby:
seems like the inner bed structure is the same since the first ranger

cool man, thanks..i think when i get this truck (94) i will head to the scrap yard an play around for a bit. i wanna get some bucket seats for it an some other crap too lol..this is gonna be my third ranger! love these trucks!

You have any pics now?

not yet dude but i hope to buy it at the end of january..nice truck, it is..soon as i do the swap, if i DO follow through with it, i will post.

looks great!!! all u need is some new headlights!!

I like it, The tailgate looks just right IMO. the older ranger gate isn't going to match up body line wise.

This thing would be pimpin with some smoked taillight and 3rd brake lites and blacked out headlights and a darker grill. As for tires I think its time to get some stang rims too!

the prob is..my tonneau cover is a soft top. because the tailgate handle is relocated in the bed, I can't secure the cover and close the tailgate.
i don't like the hard tops because they are too heavy an don't allow me to load the bed when i want..

seems to me thats time to a custom tailgate!:icon_welder: i guess it can be done cut the center on the old style and put it in the new style gate :D
as for rims, i would say the bullit type ones:cool: 16-17 so the tire looks meaty, not that skinny 20" tire

i HATE skinny tires..my last truck was 16" town car rims, 7" width..looked sweet..

I think the bullit ones are nice; just have to find some within budget. I think on a 1994 the tallest i would go is 17"; widest would prolly be 8".

I like the idea of the cutout..some serious fabbing is in order, lol! It will make the gf happy; she loves the retro style tailgates that say "F O R D". I suck at welding though, so i'd have to swap some beers for a buddy haha!

this is what my old 95 looked like:
