Swapping In Quarter Windows?

Today in the scrapyard I found an '87 BII XLT. I mainly wanted to grab interior parts, seats, grille, sidemarker lenses, and the door cars if I could. However, I this one had the quarter windows and whether or not I could use them, I snagged them.

What steps are involved to swap out regular front windows for ones with the quarter window in them? I realized after I got back that I have to return to the scrapyard and get the rest of the glass... I'm only really asking because I have to determine if this is a battle I want to have, or invest that time and effort into something else instead. I have two quarter windows otherwise.

Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the wing windows in the doors?

Pretty easy to swap those, the door itself is the same, you just need the big piece of glass, the crank mechanism and the wing window/front track assembly. The weatherstripping is different too, I would buy new there if you can, it's hard to remove intact and usually just crumbles to bits.

I know I can just swap doors, and the thought did not escape me... Unfortunately, both doors are badly damaged and rotted- though the glass was all good!

What I mean to ask, and I hate sounding so... Amateur asking this, but, how much of a PITA is this sort of job? Is this all held in by rivets? I'll go back a in a week or so maybe.

I don't think it's that bad of a job. IIRC at least some of it is held in by rivets... the hardest part is the ones that hold the main glass onto the crank mechanism.

If the doors are junk maybe just see if you can buy them complete? Then you have everything. And if they're really rusty, the door shell is worth absolutely nothing.

That's a solid point. If the doors are no good, I could see about buying them outright and that way, I can take it home and have everything else...
EDIT: Want to add... Does it matter that MY doors have the bright mirrors? Will that effect installation at all? And do you suppose I have high chances of the windows being leaky/drafty once installed? I know that is an issue for some.

Mirrors won't matter. The larger "truck" style mirrors simply have an additional mounting point halfway down the door. You can swap mirrors between doors otherwise - the little sport mirrors will bolt right onto where the large ones go, but you have empty holes down below... truck mirrors will bolt on where sport mirrors were but will need the additional holes drilled.

With weatherstripping in good shape, drafts are not a problem. I have had a bunch of trucks with both and there is really no difference.

If your tires stick out past the fenders, keep the wing windows closed when you're on gravel roads. I lost a driver's wing window glass to a chunk of gravel one time.
