Swapped front brake rotors. Studs on the new rotor are shorter than OEM.

A couple of years ago, a neighbor was moving and he gave me some brand new brake rotors that he's purchased a year or to prior. I verified the part numbers and they were listed to fit my truck, so I kept them on a shelf until yesterday. After installing them I was putting my lug nuts on and something didn't quite look right. I noticed the studs for the lug nuts on my 08 2WD Ranger are shorter than the OEM rotors I replaced. My OEM rotor studs are about 1 3/8 inches, the replacement rotor from Carquest is about 1 1/4 inches. My lugs don't seem to go on as far, I guess I need to get new rotors or studs, right?

How much thread engagement do you have with the wheel in place? In other words, with the wheel bolted on, remove one lug nut and measure how much stud is sticking through for the lug nut to thread onto.
Generally, a fastener should have a minimum engagement equal to the nominal diameter of the threads. In this case, 1/2”. I would prefer 3/4” or more for wheel studs.

can you clarify that a bit?

do the nuts not go all the way in??? or is there not as much stud sticking out the nuts?

is there at least 3 or 4 threads sticking out past the end of the nut? the threaded part, not the hollow part.

I think this is a case where pics would help...

yeah I agree with the above. also a 1 3/8" to 1 1/4" is only 1/8" difference. unless you are running aftermarket wheels that are a bit thicker, I would not say that should matter.

Worst case scenario pound the studs out of your old rotor and replace the new ones with the old ones..
