Just about done swapping in a replacement 2.5 from a 1998 ranger. I marked everything I thought but there are a couple hoses I'm not sure were they connect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The line for the heater valve, comes from the firewall directly below the blower motor, and is supposed the be in the clips on the edge of box behind the a/c accumulator.

The other line... I was drinkin when I replaced my old 2.5....

Does it come from the pcv valve on the block, or the intake...?

It's not the brake booster hose, is it?

Does it come from the pcv valve on the block, or the intake...? Defiantly from the intake. Looks like there is a Y under there and it branches off that and the hose comes out the back.

It's not the brake booster hose, is it? No, that line goes from the top of the intake over to the booster. About the same side hose though. Inner diameter seems smaller though.

Thanks for help, really hoping to get this thing fired up tonight!

Line for that connects under the manifold should go to a hard line that goes over to the charcoal canister. Thats how it's on the 2.3 and the intake looks the same as mine. You should have a rough idle with that hose disconnected.

This is my first ranger, where abouts is the charcoal canister? Thanks

My 98 had it between the rear axle and the spare tire.

The 94 has it on the forward end of the LF inner fender.

Check to see if that hose under your intake is a water or vacuum connection. I'm pretty sure it is a coolant and does connecto to that T going to your heater core.

Here is what my 2000 looked like before I yanked the motor to throw in a tdi:

I didn't see a cruise control unit in that picture, but I'm thinking that the line might have went to the cruise control unit, which would then have a line that went to the brake pedal assembly.

No cruise on the truck, greengeeker thanks for the picture. I had a feeling it might go to that but the fact the hose was so short I figured it couldnt be. Unless the hose is split into 2 pieces and I lost one half during the removal?

I gotta find out for sure though, dont want to be pumping coolant into a vacuum line!

Does anyone else have any ideas? Possible someone could go look under their hood for me? I would be so thankful!

EDIT - Found this video and further makes me believe that it is in fact possibly a coolant line... I just feel like my barb in the manifold is facing straight toward the firewall
