86 b2. i was wondering if a eaton m90 charger from a thunderbird would be enough induction to run 19lbs injectors. and maybe a performer chip if there is one.

thx for any help

I'd start with something that has stronger heads than an 86 2.9 before worrying about what super charger will fit.

im not worried about going all crazy with psi. just sum small and simple like 8psi. and i know theres nothing out there that is a bolt on, i plan to fab one on it.

just need to know if the 19lbs injectors will work ok with that.

well these motors arent very strong i know this allready. and im not about to swap out a motor that i have to do do a lot of work to anyways. this motor will be a fresh rebuild and have some things done to it to make a lil stronger.

now please can anybody tell me if these 19lbs injectors will be good enough.

i really dont know why every hates on these motors. ive never had a issue with them. the way i see it, if you take care of it, it will last a long time.

I don't have the time to do the research but you should be able to figure it out mathematically.
piston swept volume x max rpm changed to air (lbs)/hr
12 to 1 fuel ratio
19 lb/hr injector
I don't know if I'm right but if you are under 228 lbs of air per hour then those injectors should keep up fine. But you'll probably have to do custom tuning....and I just don't know enough about the systems in our trucks to answer your question properly.
Good luck,

Richard

well thank you richard, it did help enough to know that it is possible. thanks a lot. ill post some build pics and some vids when its all done.

A stock m90 puts out about 5.25 lbs of boost, and that's on a 3.8l intake setup. Anything over 5 lbs and I would not trust the 19s. Hunt down some injectors from a 4.0 in the junkyard. The red top injectors from these motors are 30 lb injectors and will be good for more than the motor can handle. If you haven't went with forged pistons, you will want to go with either an intercooler or water meth spray. I'm currently doing an m90 on a 5.0 in a y2k jeep TJ and also building another 5.0 using an M122...

ranger, what you are saying is the 19's will not be good enough for this charger, but to go higher with the 30's. just checking cuz i got a lil confused.

4.0's had 19lb injectors. yes, i know they are "red tops" but they are not ford motorsports injectors.

i would guess that 19lb injectors will fuel a 2.9 with 5-6lbs of boost just fine. but thats just a guess.

according to this its only 95-96? if that is true, thats some pretty important info. i still have my doubts, there's several other sources that say otherwise. (just google "ranger 19lb red top injector") it looks like that list came straight from corral.net's junkyard upgrades list. they even put in a disclaimer stating those may be incorrect.

That is where I got it from, as that's the only complete list I could find...

nice info. thx you guys. you are helping me a lot.

now that it looks to be promising that this will work i need to find a pulley that will fit the m90. maybe i can get one made or find one that is close and drill the hole a little bigger. any thoughts on this one. or do they make a v rib system for this older models. if not its cool either way.

I would swap the 2.9 over to serpentine. Belt slip is an issue with these superchargers, and even dual V belts would have slippage issues. Make sure when you design your mount for the sc that you get as much belt wrappage around the sc pulley as you can. I have seen most guys (with stock sc setups) buy bigger idler pulleys to give them over 180* of belt wrap to fight slippage. The higher the boost you run, the more problem slippage is. I know you said you are keeping it low, but just a heads up, just cause the belt touches the pulley doesny mean its turning it...
