They look like they might just be mids... I'm sure they'll put out all the bass he wants. More power to you man.

This is what Im running at the moment. 12" Audiobahn, ported wedge from chevy pickup at around 1.28 cu.ft, 600w Audiobahn Amp, Pioneer SuperTuner, Pioneer 4-way 6.5 in doors (the 6x9's are dead) and yes yes, those are surround sound speakers mounted to the top of my box. Hey, I was broke and had no other speakers to throw in it so while I was diggin for some, i noticed those....wheels started turning a little, and next thing I know Im screwing them down. They are not staying...I promise. The socket is a quick fix to people slideing my seat back and hitting the sub. Oh, its a single cab too.

Thank you for information :icon_thumby:

like i said, im not knocking the guy who put those subs in. if hes happy, thats all that matters.

i just find it funny these guys post on how the way he has it setup will sound like crap, but hes using pyramid subs. thats all.

and 4x4fun, those look like pyramid spekaers to me.

lol i feel the same way way just didnt want every one to dog him....

it would be cool if he removed the "back' of the seat. and bottom foam then built a box using the bottom if the seat as the "face" and leave it looking like has it now.

I am very limited on my sub brands, since I am sort of bias and stick to the ones I like. However, I was wondering if anyone has ever used any MA Audio subs before? I see alot of people useing 8's and just thought I would through the Ma's out there. I bought two MA800XL 8's and dumped one in the same box that my Audiobahn 12 is residing in. That one 8 will dry hump the piss out of the Audiobahn. Could be speaker vs air space vs porting size but it was a great sub.......untill I stuck my drill through it.....never cool.

good eyes guys, those are pyramid subs and LA speakers. the back of the seat has been completely removed so that the sub is exposed on the back side, which will allow me to build the appropriate size sealed enclosure for it. like i said, its not finished and i dont plan on running these exact speakers when its done. im not looking to join the deaf before 30 group, just add a little bass to my music while retaining the function of my extended cab. if you guys have any suggestions on what brand sub to run (8" are as large as this mounting will allow) im all ears.

lol im the man......or i wander around wally world at 2am to much.

all ears you say.......

some speakers are junk and even tho they are cheep. you can find a better deal. on a better quality. and spend around the same amount. as far as brands go eveyone has there brand they like.

making the box on the back side of the seat is a sweet idea. if it were me something like the 8W1v2-4 from JL, cause it has the full surround black grill, and will kinda blend. with the OEM of the bottom of the seat.

havent dabbled with alot of 8's to give you a direction. but good luck.

thanks 4x4 fun, yeah i think youve been spending too much time in wally world. those LAs are about 7 years old, something cheap we put in for my brother was driving it, before i restored it. was the JL number you gave me for a sub (because it was an 8" 4ohm 300w) or did you mean to give me a number for one of the premade boxes that you put in place of the seat?
so far the plan is to run 1 mtx rt202 amp bridged (should get me 150 watts) to each 8" sub (4ohm 300w),i have 2 of the rt202 amps and 2 subs (the pyramids for now, ive been looking at mtx and pioneer but those JLs look tempting too). then ill get out the card board and make some templates for the enclosure as im not sure how much room i have in there yet since you can measure the space when the seat is closed. ill just have to make a couple mock ups in cardboard that fit and then fudge the numbers around until i get the proper air space. theres a bunch of pictures on the last page of the my build thread that would better explain the set up http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37621&page=30

heres some pictures of the center console speaker box i made for the truck. the box is divided into separate ported boxes via the bottom board of the cubby hole. it has 2-8" pyramid audio subs and an 200w MTX road thunder amplifier.

heres what i have in my 90' std cab, this is the box that i stole the pyramids out of (although it has roadmasters in it here) and they actually sounded pretty nice (not hardly loud enough to hear from inside the house).

Just an option, but try looking at a set of Pioneer Premier shallow mount 8's. They are the ones with the acordian (not sure of numbers) surround. They need very little air space and sound fantastic. They are a little pricey but for what it sounds like you are looking for, should be about perfect. I have heard them in a 4 door f150 which had 2 of them under the rear seat and it sounded really good. Didn't have that deep subwoofer, vibrate your mirrors out of position bass, but had a nice clean bass to them that complimented the rest of the system very well. Just an option.

thanks mforrest327, ill have a look at them. does any one have any experience with mtx subs? i was thinking about getting some if i can find a deal on them (dont want to spend too much on this stuff because eventually someone steals it and then you buy some used stuff that might be stolen, its just the whole car audio circle of life thing) plus they would match my amps and speakers im putting in. thanks for the help guys!

dont deal much with MTX. kinda on the lower end of the scale. but if you get a really good deal there better then nothing. and iv been doing this for over ten years. and only had my stuff stolen once. but i make stuff very clean and hard to see from the out side. maybe somethign to think about.

just started looking at "free air" subs and was thinking these would probably work perfect if i put some dacron behind the jump seats to absorb the soundwaves that would be hitting the lower rocker panels to keep them from vibrating too much? these look nice but are a little out of my price range at the moment http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/8w3v3-4.aspx
thanks for the responses to my newb audio woes 4x4fun, ive installed quite a bit of audio stuff before, but not with the careful amount of math and planning that you used in your set up. im more advanced when it comes to the mechanical and facricating end of truckin, which is kind of why im getting addicted to building this system, because i keep learning more about the science/math behind it
(i like to learn) and im finding more things i can fabricate for my truck!

no worries, if you already have something you like why go buy something else. and cheaper stuff set up correctly will sound better the 10000$$$ set up wrong. learn your math and you will be just fine. and if you like to build try and get your spec sheets out and go to town. gettnig the most in hard places is what i live for. and and making it look like it cound have come OEM after your done.

I agree 100% with 4x4fun. Alot of money doesn't always mean a great system. Im running two sony xplode 10's which are going on 4 years old and I have beat them into almost nothing but they are still going good and sound just fine. They need very little airspace to work which works out good for under my GMC xcab seat. Main thing is to know what you want your system to sound like and then do it. Practice makes perfect. Many many crap systems have came and gone before I tuned my truck into just how I like it. Good luck and hope to see a vid when its all done!
