Very nice setups, nice to see you joined TRS. Did you get bored since ca.com is down? You build some nice boxes btw.

yea boxes are hard to sell they freaking weigh so much. i have a custom box for a ranger and i havent even tried to push it. unless some one is local trying to ship it would be more then you could get for the box lol

ya i hate the new VB4 layout, its really a downgrade imo. Glws most people on here have reg cabs and can only run a single sealed 10" or 12"

do you want a cookie????? im not sure were your going with this

Where I was going with this is: If he is contemplating using an 8" sub as opposed to a 10" or 12", He is probably hard-pressed for space. With minimal space, and 8" sub will be louder, whether in a sealed, or a well tuned ported enclosure, than a larger sub which would require a larger box volume to reach it's full potential. If used in a poorly tuned ported enclosure, yes any sub will fail to reach it's potenial in both volume and sound quality.

Another point, which I didn't address the first time, but will now, is that the opposite of what you claimed about aluminum cones is true. The rigidity of an aluminum cone compared to a more flexible cone such as a paper or plastic, makes not only for a louder speaker, but a less distorted sound as well. As the center of a speaker is driven out on a speaker with a cone such as a paper one we will say, the forces produce often distort the shape of the cone, and can often fail to drive the outside of the cone as much as the inner cone.

Now where's my effin cookie?

first he allready had the subs in boxes and in his truck, and was simply asking about how to get the most out of them. which i stated: use a correct sealed box, or correctly port the boxes. which might be hard to find numbers for the $20 wally world special subs he got.

secondly there pleanty of 10,12 low profile subs with sealed requirements. that will compete with normal 8's

third "using the wrong size box /bad ported box will effect the potential and sound"( paraphrases )..........your breaking new ground here Copernicus

ok i cant say anything about grammar cause im really bad. but you lose me in the middle about driving the cone

but i never said an alum cone would be louder. but it will produce more of a punchy sound because it is much more rigid. and i am right about an alum cone not flexing as much as other cone material.

the (physics/acoustics/strenth of material vs cone dia, and flex) conversation is for another thread. but more then happy to discuss it if you would like,

Now where's my effin cookie

yea about that.......your cookie quota is now in the "-" so you own us cookies. if you would like to join the dark side:icon_rofl:

im trying to find another amp to match this one as i want to convert the other jump seat to hold another 8" sub as well. im not looking to piss off my neighbors or give myself a headache, i just want my music to have a little more ass to it.

I woulda removed that whole jumpseat and built a sealed box to go in that hole...to me that would sound like chit

some times its just better to be happy for them; cause their happy.

on a side note.
glad you like them, hope they give you what you need. but from looking at the pic, with limited info. (and from a tech POV) id keep that set up a lil secret. theres alot you can get flamed on. rockon

quetion. are thoes speakers lighting audio????

like i said, im not knocking the guy who put those subs in. if hes happy, thats all that matters.

i just find it funny these guys post on how the way he has it setup will sound like crap, but hes using pyramid subs. thats all.

and 4x4fun, those look like pyramid spekaers to me.

The sub box said pyramid on it. And yea I was just gna leave him be As far as commenting on those subs. But as long as he likes it it a-ok I guess.
