sub with jumper seats

thats what i wanted to do with mine then have to where you can just put the seat back and cover the speakers which would be cool this is what i ended up doing

wow that is a great idea. i didnt even think about removing the drivers side seat. nobody ever sits there anyway because i'm 6'2" and its too uncomfortable so i tell them to sit on the passenger side haha. cruel but true. i'd rather have a person ride with somebody else then get in an accident and have my baby totaled in a ditch somewhere :bawling:

thats an 8", right? i'd like to be able to fit a 10 if possible...

no its a 10" CVR it hits nice right there and theres not alot of rattling going on since its all one piece of metal back there

Since this has kind of turned into a post what you got thread, I'll post my recently finished box.

really nice flyingbrick..i like it alot!

basically what i'll be doing with my reg cab, making it wide (width of cab) and tall to make up for the whole depth issue

the only thing i can't figure out how to calculate is the angle i should do the box at?

and not sure if i should just do a triangle box, or do a box like:

_______
|airairair\
|airair-air\
|airair-sub\
|air-subsub\
|sub-subsub\
|air-subsub--\
|airairairairair-\
--------------

and if i'm doing it like that, the sub will be placed in at an angle, and idk how to calculate where the most depth would be etc... and how to get it so that the middle part (since i'll be mounting it centered right?) is the right depth and the rest just fits whatever.

does anybody think two 12's will be too much for a single cab? i've been thinking either 2 10's or a nice 12.

the nice 12 option would give me more space in the back, but would it have enough of a sound difference really? besides maybe just less boomin because it's a whole sub less?

I think one 12 with a proper set up would be plenty.

Well i took that box loaded like that to my bros work to test it on the amp i was thinking of buying, and even in the store it was more then enough, I'd not go more then one 10 or 12 even in my ext cab.

baxtej44: go to http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm and use the PORTED calculator (even if you don't want a ported box) to run your numbers and it will give you your front angle.

i got 77degrees (if my calculus teacher knew i was using degrees he would kill me haha), for a bottom depth of the box at 7 inches and the top to be 4, height of 13 inches, and total width to be 52, with 3/4 mdf.

now how do i find an internal volume?

none of those fit how my box would look though...

also, if i make my box on sketchup, with the depths previously mentioned, and use the tape measure tool to measure the connector piece (basically kinda like the hypotenuse), will that give me the length of the face of the box? where the sub will be mounted

yes they do just rotate your screen lol it will look the same,

how deep is that box flyingbrick? my sub is 7.7 inches deep or something like that. i guess i need a really deep and big box

I seem to have started a trend with replacing the jack.

Ya I had the idea to put a sub there since I never carried the stock jack. So I just built a box to look somewhat OEM. that way if people do look in all they see is stock shit. not likely to braek in and take anything.

i broke my box into a rectangle portion and a triangle portion and found the internal volume...

i got 1.092cf

and it's basically the biggest that my space could allow.... should i keep it this size, put a 12 in it, and port it? or leave it sealed? or cut about 25% of it off, and put a 10 in there sealed? do 10's sound alright ported, or better sealed? what about a 1.092cf sealed box for a 12?

i got 1.3445 cf

but it is it enuff depends on the CF requirements for the sub. if you port it you need an even bigger box. what sub were you looking at using?
