sub advice needed

im looking at getting 2 of these subs:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1081052W/Infinity-1052w.html?tp=111

with this amp:
http://outlet.crutchfield.com/p_613KAC7204/Kenwood-KAC-7204.html?cc=01&tp=13643

does this seem like a good match?

how important is the box size? like how much smaller do you think i can go with out doing damage or getting bad sound? thanks

proper enclose is more important than the equipment you use, if you cant fit the proper box find a sub that fits in the space you have

ive been trying to research this online and have concluded that a box with .5 cu ft of airspace would give me a Qtc of .898. Ive read that it should be between .6-1.0 and ive read between .9-1.2 is best. From what i can find this wont allow me to go quite as low but will give slightly more volume. The recommended airspace of these subs is .75 which gives a Qtc of .7798. So as far as i can yell i should be fine going this small. Someone please correct me if im wrong or if this makes absolutely no sense.

well you want two of them so now your box is 1ct keep that in mind. and just make sure you wire your subs right

if you are going really tight on air pressure, you want to make sure to reinforce your box well so you don't blow your box at the seams, literally.

like 4x4 make sure you take care of all the small things as well...

what gauge wiring are you planning on running?
material for the box?
standard or extended cab?

i have an extended cab an i am trying to fit them under the rear jumper seats like someone else on here did but ive been having alot of trouble figuring out dimensions that will work.
i was planning on making the box out of either 5/8" or 3/4" mdf and i believe that amp calls for 8 gauge wiring.

Does that seem like a good match of subs and amp?
and i should be fine going with a smaller box, correct?

the subs and amp should be fine its going to come down to the box size and I would use 3/4' mdf

neither choice you posted is that great, If you're dead set on running two subs and those are it, definitly dont use that amp.

without knowing your budget its hard to show you something but for what you're going to spend I would get a single sub and mono amp. something like this perhaps:

http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/subwoofers/power-reference-subwoofers/
the 15-PR12D4

and for an amp
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPM500/Alpine-MRP-M500.html?search=mrpm500&tp=115

the alpine is the same price as the other amp posted and much better, also can be had at just about anywhere that sells audio crap.

the Memphis is about $70 iirc and can usually be had locally as long as you have a Memphis dealer.

something i have learned is not to push different brands, unless people ask brand quality questions. like loud said the proper set up will be a better investment then high end parts. every one has there own subs they like and what they have heard ect ect ect. im not a big fan of memphs but thats me. if hes looking for 2 10s hes gonna get tight sounding bass. if thats what hes after then good. moving to a single 12 will negate that and lose volume mass.

as long as the 10s are wired corectly and in a proper box. they combo he picked will work just fine. finding good deals on parts mean nothing to some one learning if they cant get the basics down.

I agree whole heartedly that a proper setup system will sound better than high end parts slapped together, my point was the stuff I posted up was something same cost or less, as easy to find, and better parts. Ive actually never owned a memphis product, just listened, however I own quite a few Alpine products. I really dont think he knows what hes looking for, that was my reason for showing other options.

the set up you picked out shoukd be fine but i woukd stay away from memphis unless your going big, im very disapointed in there smaller budget subs.

I dont really know what im looking for exactly. I have a general idea of what brands to stay away from but other than that im not sure. I was looking at 2 10" subs because i want that tighter bass and also they more often than not require less airspace and my plan was to fit these under my jumperseats. As for budget, Id like to go as cheap as possible (who doesnt?) while still getting a good sounding system, but Im willing to go up to around $350, including subs, amp, wiring, etc. I realise that you get what you pay for and typically the less you pay the lower the quality, but i dont need a high end system that can be heard from 3 blocks away. I just want something decent quality that'll shake my mirrors good:headbang: Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

On another note, how much will amping speakers affect their sound etc? My speakers are rated to 60wrms and my headunit puts out 17wrms. If I were to get a 60w 4 channel amp, what exactly would it do for me? Would it give me more bass etc, or would I just be able to play it louder without distortion?

Supplying amplifier power to your speakers will make a big difference. An amp will give your speakers clean, strong power than no head unit alone is capable of. Aside from obviously being able to crank up your system to a higher volume, an amp will add a lot more clarity to your music, and will unleash the full potential of aftermarket speakers.
I have a JVC HU and 4 Pioneer speakers, but no amp. When listening to certain types of music, particularly rock, when I crank the volume up really high all the instruments can start to bleed together, if that makes sense. With an amp, everything comes through crystal clear, and you can easily distinguish every note from every instrument, even at really high volumes.
I don't know what kind of speakers you have, but great speakers and a good amp can make it sound like a band is playing live right in your truck.
