I'm finishing up a 4.0 swap on my B2 and it's all down to wiring. This ground cable has me stumped, though. I can't get terminal 3 to reach the ground stud on the starter when the cable is bolted to the frame below the airbox. Now I'm questioning if the terminal goes there at all. Can anyone tell me where 1, 2 and 3 are supposed to end up?

Please excuse the crude picture. This is on my phone from the garage.

Starter motor and alternator use and provide the most amps in the vehicle.

Usually starter motor bolt will get the larger Negative battery cable or it will be bolted near it on the Block.
This gets both starter and alternator a good direct Ground.
Then a ground to the frame(from the engine), and Rad support(head light ground)

And there will be a short ground strap from the head(drivers side) to the firewall(for cab electrics ground)

I have a 2.8 and just changed that wire. 1 to the block, 3 should be to the battery, and 2 has a pinned plug. Still not sure what 2 does.

Again I still have the 2.8, but I recognize be wire. I hope I helped.

Yeah you're right. I double checked while I was at the junkyard, today. 2 is still a mystery though. I couldn't trace it. Thanks!

Later post: It's for the starter post, ECM, or body ground.

I just hooked mine up. #2 goes to the block passenger side below the exhaust manifold behind the motor mount, about 2/3 of the way back. Look from the fender well and there are several bolt holes that will accept the correct size bolt.
