95 4.0 auto trans 4x4. Just tried to pull out of the garage and could not get out of park. Zero problems previous, just used 4x4 and pulled someone out yesterday for the first time this year. I parked it in the garage a few hours ago with no problems. It feels like I can not pull the shifter towards me enough, and its not very smooth. I did get it out of park once with the truck off, but now can not anymore. Suggestions?

have someone try to push the truck back(while truck is off) and drop it in nuetral and start it in nuetral, may just have to much pressure on the park gear.

I'll try that. It's parked on a flat garage floor...

How does the brake pedal safety switch work? Would it not allow the shifter to move truck on or off?

I guess its technically called a neutral safety switch. Looks like I can pick one up for $30, but have learned through the years not to just replace parts until the problem is found.

Could this be a fuse? Fuse 10 lists "brake interlock"

The safety switch would keep it from shifting out of park. I dont know if you could bypass it.

if you just need an quick way to get it outta the garage in an emergency, why not just jack up by the rear diff and slowly pull it out?

Not like the garage is burning down, but its my fathers spot and this is my only vehicle. Drive down the valley and come yank me out :idiot:

Rocked it hard and no deal on stuck against parking lug. Also no deal on Fuse 10, looked good, replace for the heck of it and no help.

You said you were able to get it into nuetral once while not started. Just shift it to nuetral that way, start it and push it out

why not just pull the rear driveshaft and push it out of the way for now? then your old man wont get mad....:icon_idea:

That was once, I have been trying that since and no luck :pissedoff:

where are you

Assnonia, I'm on LMMC board as well.. joking about pulling me out, still does not actually solve my problem, and better to work in the slightly warmer garage.

More that I just need to get it fixed, not just get it out of the garage.
