straight axle swap

legoms013 is correct

well the sale went through on the d50. goin to pick it up today. trying to find a rear for it now. was thinking d60hd or a sterling 10.25/10.5 wht are peoples opinions? also im aware the 10.5 has 35 spline shafts does anyone know the bolt pattern and pinion yoke size?

99+ is the metric pattern that should match our D50 solid.

you can have the units redrilled....branik will rework them pretty reasonable...or a local shop real reasonable.

do the rotors too.

i would prefer a 35 spline 60 out back as its lighter and has better clearance then the 10.5....best bet is a ff 60 or 70 from a later van, its disk brake already....get the brake master from that as well. they are usually 32 spline.

cheapest bet is to find a 14bolt with a detroit and 410 gears already in many areas of the country.

i think i may take out a 60hd and just space it out/convert-space the front end as well

Im far from banging on the D30, Im running one under my truck now.

D30 and with chromo shafts you can run 37's all day.

lolicopter

As for parts compatibility between the SA D50 and D60, everything but the differential innards and the inner axle shafts should swap between it and '99-'04 D60s.

Let me reword this.

As for parts compatibility, nothing except the diff cover and hubs out are the same.

That means the entire diff is different, the axle shafts are different, the wheel joints are different.

32x11.50x15 inch BRGoodrich M/T tires. escourt_gts is running 35's on his and hasnt had a problem yet and he has more weight on the front of his and more power under the hood then me too. Im running CV shafts (weakest shafts) and they havent given me a problem yet, but have the larger ujoint ones at my ready for if I do need to replace them.

could i bore out the axle tubes and line where the carrier bearings sit? and then run 60 guts? only reason i would do tht much work is i got the thing for 200 plus a trade for an 8.8

Sell it and buy a 60, your way over thinking this. I sold a front Ford 60 2 months ago for $450. They are out there.

never seen a hp ford 60 for tht low of a price at least not around my area

suck it up. You gotta pay to play. Just be patient and watch for deals.

If you don't want to be patient, you can go ahead and pay a premium for the shit you want.

Wheel joints are the same on both (you may be thinking the TTB D50 which has the different u-joints).

Old one tons are cheap, grab your axle(s) and the rest is worth about $200 a ton.
