I drive a 94 reg cab short bed 4.0 5 speed 4x4 B4000 on 31's. I was planning on getting stock height replacements just for the sake of getting back that half inch or so of old spring sag, but I'm considering getting a real light duty plow setup soon. I know I will need some stiffer springs regardless of how heavy of a plow I get, but what are the stiffest stock height springs money can buy? I've already read all the lectures on these front ends not being up to the task, but I'm willing to do a little premature front end work if need be. Even if I don't end up pushing snow, I'm still gonna want the stiffest springs.

Perhaps a set of stock f150 springs would work out nicely with a plow on the front of it.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Will that throw off my camber so much that I'll eat up tires though?

get a set of rough country 4" lift coils... cut them off.. the are 450ppi when made, then cutting them shorter will make them stiffer... lol.

Honestly I'd put the plow on, and stick spacers under the springs to bring it back to stock.

Don't they make plows removable? Just stick it on the night before it's supposed to snow. Having the tires off camber on a fresh slippery surface for a few hours isn't going to hurt them.

No, no, no.

I put air bags in my coils when I put on a plow. I have a big-assed 500# Western plow and really floppy coils. The bags are the ticket. Mine are from Airlift. Find their number, call them and answer their questions and they'll set you up.

I just put a new set of "stock option" progressives on my '96. The originals were bad enough they couldn't align the front end. The progressives drive well and with added gear up front you have the extra spring to them. Other than that, don't the Explorers have overly harsh springs? I know they fit.

Just get their leveling coils...that way you dont have to cut off the coil you dont need on the 4" coil... :icon_rofl:

Wow I've never heard of those. I looked them up, and for only a bit over 100 bucks, that sounds like a very solid option.

About what degree camber bushing would I need for stock F150 springs to maintain decent alignment?
