Step side to fleet side bed swap

I bought a fleetside bed and bumper to replace my step side on my 02 ranger, everything lines up except the fuel filler neck. It’s about 3-4inches short from being able to screw it in. I tried to prepare for this, but the biggest one I can get is still too small. Anything helps, thanks in advance!

I believe the filler tube will have to be from the same size cab also, Super cab and Regular cab have different fuel tanks

If you have a Supercab, the filler tube will need to be from a Super cab Fleetside

It’s a 2002 4.0 4x4 manual XLT and originally had the fleet side. The parts store can’t pull anything up and I’m having trouble finding the part I need online. Should I check my local junkyard?

If it's a Ranger the bed choices were flareside and styleside. Old Ford's and GM's sometimes had step sides and only GM ever used a fleetside. If you use GM names it's apt to start leaking oil...

There are 2 versions of the filler tube: The one for the flare side (stepside) and one for the styleside. Cab configuration/box length don't matter.

I transfer the hose from the donor truck (aka from salvage lot) when I have swapped from flareside to styleside. So, I can't give you part number (I'll check on the one on the driveway)

I assume you have the correct wider bumper too.
