steel vs aluminum rims

do you guys prefer steel or aluminum rims? personally i prefer steel. they look better for my preferances, theyre cheaper, and if you hit a rock wrong theyre more likely to bend and not break like aluminum allowing you to limp home if needed. thinking of getting a set of cragar soft v's or bart wheels modified standard wheels for my 04 edge 2wd. i know the barts arent dot approved and are designed for a 2800lb vehicle but that is also sliding sideways. i had a set on a 280hp 3500lb chrysler fifth ave that took a beating and they held up.

i prefer steel myself. however, on my '83 with it's 27 year old 2.8, i went to aluminum just because of the weight factor. i haul a lot of weight in the bed, and pull a light weight, aluminum tent camper and every pound counts.

i prefer steel for trucks. just seems to make more sense to me. if i drove a car i would go aluminum, but for my truck, steel wheels look good to me.

I prefer magnesium, sounds cooler.....

nah... I am 50/50, if it is a road vehicle, aluminum, if its an offroader, steel.

i found a set of the cragars i wanted on craigslist for 100 bucks brand new for 5 of them. i like when irresponsible people have accidental kids!
