OK guys Ive decided that I'm gonna do a v6 so i can stay in class 7 racing.
But now what would make the best donor? If you could go to a wrecking yard and grab anything you wanted, For a v-6 what would it be?
I'm sure aluminum would be best for weight issues.
Light as can be plus as much hp as you can get ...Without super charge or turbo..

I would like to Efi. also. Cam, pistons and heads will all be done.(prob alot more lol)

Any well know proven to last more than a few races lol...
Going in my 97 extra cab ranger

Thanks all:beer:

If you could get your hands on one, the new'ish 3.5L Ecoboost would be great. However, there are most likely few to none in junkyards at the moment.

Maybe the 3.0L from a Taurus SHO, 3.8L, or 4.2L (can't remember if that was a 6 or 8 cylinder though).

I don't remember if it was bored or stroked, but the 4.2 was an evolution of the 3.8 V-6.

I think the 4.2 would be a good choice, readily bolts to a SBF transmissions and are stupid common in F-150's and minivans.

It is hard to find donars that haven't been shipped out of the factory yet. 2011 F-150's are being held back until the 2010's get cleared out and even then the Ecoboost ones are not going out until early next yeat. The only Ecoboost that is for sale is the Taurus SHO.

The 3.7 Mustangs have been out since last spring, but I bet they are still slim pickings.

i would go 4.2 v-6 then after market efi for tuneability you can also get a T-5 from a 3.8L supercharged thunderbird so you can have at least a heavy duty tranny with smooth shifting!

Supercoupes came with M5R2's

Last time I looked, there were like 10 3.5 Ecoboost motors on ebay...

Of course, they were like $3,000....and then you have to get it running and get a tranny...

I say go for a 4.2, get some headers, port the heads and bigger valves and you'd have one serious air pump.
