That the states are stripping the states of their bargaining rights is not surprising. The states are going broke! Republicans are simply doing what they can, at the level that they are at, to try and balance the budget. Where would the money come from to pay these people, and pay their benefits? The federal government? Oh no, they're broke too! The taxpayers? They already fund these union jobs. Why should they continue to fund them, when they only make a fraction of the money as the union / government workers? Besides, a lot of taxpayers are already broke!
Instead of simply complaining about it, or commenting on the communist / marxist demonstrators, let's look for reasons as to why the states and the federal government are broke.
1. Two useless foreign wars. I could go into the real reason we're fighting them, but that would not be acceptable subject matter at TRS.
2. Immigration / demographics. Again, not PC.
3. "Jobless Recovery." I think that's self explanatory.
4. Broken monetary system. See here:

Be sure to watch all 5 of them.
In short, this collective bargaining issue is just a symptom of a much larger problem.
