States stripping unions bargaining rights

Good. The government employee unions need to be destroyed. Anything that makes them go ballistic is fine with me. I rejoice in their horror.
In the private sector there is a practical limit to wages and benefits. In the public sector the employee unions often negotiate with the same Democrat politicians they paid to elect, and the politicians reward them with taxpayer money. Basically it's a money laundering scheme to recycle tax dollars to the Democrat Party.
My income was cut over 50% from 2007 but I'm not seeing that "shared sacrifice" that the Democrat Jesus was talking about.
If you don't like the pay or benefits of your job then get a different one like the other 87% of people do.

^^ Tiger blood, that's awesome..

I'm not going to claim that I know all there is to know about Unions and such. But in my admittedly small experience, it was allways the ones paying the dues (read, not the "Union Bosses") that constantly get the shaft. I have yet to see a situation where a Union enviroment is a positive thing. I'm sure they're out there, but it hasn't been my experience.

/$.02 so I'll go back to

It's simple, unions keep demanding more and more.

Yet even when the well runs dry they keep demanding.

Unions protecting workers from unscrupulous, greedy employers is a thing of the past
all they are NOW is an extortion racket, and in the case of Public service worklers that's largely all they ever were.

the unions collect dues from the workers and don't do shit for their members.

they contribute to politicians who wil vote to give the workers more money.. money that is not theirs in order for the unions to give more politicians etc, etc...

It's all nothing but a self-perpetuating racket

I have (briefly) run my own business. I have a been in sub-management supervisory positions. I have a degree in management. I have also studied American history (both civilian and military) in the period of the late 1800s and the first half of the 1900s through the end of WWII rather extensively

AllanD hit the nail on the head, as usual. Unions were a good and needed thing, particularly during the hayday of the Industrial Revolution. Those days are long gone. Most employers these days have realized that employee satisfaction translates into greater productivity, rather than running your employees ragged. They were never really needed in government settings.

Also, I was opposed to what Wisconsin was doing until I found out how much these people were making once benefits were figured in. I believe that teachers and people in similar positions should be making the big bucks, and pro athletes and musicians should make mediocre, mid level salaries. Unfortunately the economics of it just don't support that. Wages are paid out (or at least should be) by what a given employee makes for the company. Athletes and entertainers simply have the power to make more for their employers via volume sales. Teachers salaries come from public funds, and the one thing that politicians do know about taxes is that if they tax the public to death, the public won't be the only ones who die.

Totally agree.

I agree, unions had their place. They are what made America great. But they "got too big for britches" to coin a phrase. I have friends in unions (construction related), they are always laid off and collecting unemployment at a ridiculously high level. Much more than the laid off non-union guys with the same trade - which I think is unfair. They are singing the blues now at the possibility of someone taking their cheese from them, but I say it's about time.

Unions are not what they used to be but then again slave labor is alive and well in the USA.....and some want it that way as long as the man on top makes a buck.
One kinda cancels out the other........In most cases it boils down to ....."It sucks to be you!"

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhahahahahaaaaa......weeze...........

We have a winner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the heck is with states stripping unions of their bargaining rights? Ohio just got screwed. Wisconsin just followed.

Florida is almost there..the vote is soon. My wife is a school teacher. Now...why can't we vote these Legislators out of office and impeach the Governors of these states? People voted them in...we should have the right to vote them out...after all, they don't have to put 20 years in to get a retirement. They can work for 6-10 years and get a pension plus free health care for the rest of theirs lives!!! These Nazi Legislators....SUCK and they should all die!!!

you know, it occurs to me that this thread doesn't belong in the main forum, somebody should put it into the tailgate.

I am not opposed to private sector unions. Agree, at one time they were needed, now not so much or the private sector workforce would be more than 7% unionized. Govt workers are 55% unionized though. Is the govt that horrible to work for or is it a gravy train scam that the rest of us have to pay for?

That's how democracy works. Go for it. The reason the unions and the Democrats are panicked is that once the state employee unions are gone, they will never have enough votes to put the genie back in the bottle.

Term limits and no pensions for state governors and legislators. I'm fine with it. :icon_thumby:

See, now you're shooting your credibility. The FBI normally drives black Crown Vics, if you see one pull up to your house.

So am I. At least you and I are lucky, we already have term limits on the Governor.

Goodbye Ruin-del, not gonna miss your fat, lazy, can't-pass-the-friggin-budget-less-than-six-months-late, mob supported ass.

There's a little Republicant change for you.
Now I'm not a flag waving liberial..........I just want to sit on the fence and watch both party's kill each other then maybe we can all get a fair shake.
Not gonna happen though.......sucks to be us..............we just keep on passing the Vaseline to the next guy.
