Spring Bushing Replacement

lView attachment 36444looks like there is corrosion in the center that will limit inserting the new bushing. I am planning on using a hole saw to cut out that ridge n the center

any suggestions on grease to use and torques to set on the bolts?

Hole saws tend to cut larger than the size they say. I'd be leery of using one. I'm pretty sure the new piece should be a slight press fit so the hole needs to be a couple thousands smaller than the new sleeve. You will never get that accuracy with a hole saw.
Emery cloth and elbow grease.
Don't know torque values off hand.

Those are aftermarket bushings so they were replaced at some point. Do NOT use a hole saw to clean that up. Rat tail file or sandpaper only.

Any old grease will work. I agree that those are aftermarket bushings. Clean it up with a file, that's all that's necessary.

I used a smaller hole saw just to remove the center ridge that was corroded. It left some scratches but only in the area that was already damaged

I never grease the outside of the bushing. If you really want to a silicone brake grease is probably the safest thing for the rubber. I absolutely coat the entire center bolt with anti-sieze.

Torque spec on the bolts is "effin tight".

Hmmmm. Pressed the factory style bushings in with grease. Wish I had waited now. Will grease between the leaf and bushing shell cause an issue?

What kind of grease?

I see no reason any type of grease will have any effects, it's going between the metal casing of the bushing and the metal of the spring eye. It's not going onto the rubber at all.

You would not want to for example put petroleum grease the bushing if it was just rubber on metal.

A little grease on the outside just helps the bushings slide in easier. And by grease, I mean vaseline... 99% of the time it's what I use for assembling stuff like this. Just a very light coat is all that is required.
