Speaker Size for a ‘98

My speakers and failed and are making the worse noise i’ve ever heard. I’ve never done anything with car audio before and my understanding is I need a specific size or kind of speaker for it to work.

Does anyone know what the spec I need for for the ‘98-‘11 Ranger? Or like, am I over thinking this and can just slap some stuff in there?

Im pretty sure they are 5x7, but if I remember correctly, you can fit a 6x8 in the hole. I know Pioneer made a 6x8 that fit in mine back then.

Crutchfield has the best source of info on car audio that I'm aware. It is in their best interest to sell you the right parts...
If you're doing a whole stereo, their free wiring kits makes them cheaper than most sources too.

For some reason I think only the rear was 5x7, the door speakers I think are 6” or 6.5” round… and if I mind right, you have to do a little modification to the rear but it will fit 6x9.

Definitely Crutchfield for the goods, they can tell you exactly what fits and what you need. Most aftermarket speakers won’t directly plug into Fords wiring, you either need to cut and fit different ends on the factory wiring or get adapters. If I was tying new speakers into factory wiring, I’d do the adapters. That’s coming from someone who does electrical.
