Hi everyone,
Brand new to the forum here, was hoping to get some help on wheels
I have a 96 Ranger XL 4x4 with manual lock hubs
I'm in need of a spare tire.

My wheels are a 5 lug pattern, 235/75/15 tires
It seems like a majority of ranger and explorer rims will match
Just wondering if there is a year specific or ranger specific rim that was meant for the 4x4 trucks that will just slip on without modification

Thanks

That should be a "5 x 4.5" lug pattern which means 5 lugs on a 4.5" diameter circle. You will probably want a 7" or 8" wide rim for those tires. Need to make sure the center hole of the rim is big enough to fit over the hubs. But it's OK if it is bigger than that. Ranger wheels are supposed to be "lug-centric" which means that the lugs center the wheel, not the hub. Otherwise, there are bunches of wheels out there that will fit.

Early Jeeps used the same lug pattern. But some time in recent years, they changed to a different lug pattern. Craigslist is your friend for this quest.

Jeeps can get goofy on their offset so watch that in your shopping if you go that route.

Many other Fords use the same pattern... but your results may vary with offsets especially the newer you go.
