sound system

For a 4 channel amp you can bridge 2 channels together for your sub more or less making it work like a 3 channel amp.

Yea, you can do that, but being a Jensen 400w 4 ch amp, you'd only be looking at maybe 200w (peak, 100w RMS most likely) going to the subs on that bridged channel. Depending on the subs, this might not be enough to really get any thump out of them.

Personally, I would use the 4ch for all my stock speakers, then get a decent 2ch or mono amp for the subs. You can usually find something cheap on craigslist that will get the job done. However, if you're not looking for serious pounding, I would try the "3 channel" setup and see how it sounds before spending more money.

oh it thumps enough, you dont need much in the little ranger cab.
it has a 3 channel switch on it, so I'll use that. then using the leftover 2 channels i can hook 4 speakers to that? would i wire them series or parallel? my understanding of wiring is good but nice audio is new to me lol
i have junky 5x7s in the doors, and nothing out back yet. i want to get 6x9s for the back, but should I get nicer 6x8s for the front and put the 5x7s out back?

personally I'm not big on 6x9's, 6x8's or 5x7's. I'd get some decent two ways for the back and put a nice component system in the front. I used a 6 1/2 component set and made a bracket out of plywood to fit it to the existing door pocket. Fit pretty nicely and not terribly hard to do.

ok components are out of my price range right now. I'm thinking I'll upgrade my fronts and put these crappy ones in back for now. can i run all 4 off 2 channels of my amp? or should i power the front 2 off the amp and just hook the back 2 to the HU?

cheap cheap cheap! i would love to stay under $75 for the front. this isnt meant for high end sound, just enough to piss off nearby cars, without sounding like crap. what i have now sounds decent at low volumes but turning it up loud enough to drown out mud tires it get distorted quickly

Thats how I mounted mine, worked pretty well. I have a higher quality set of mb quartz components but they aren't hard to mount. The cross overs you can stick in the passenger side dash.

I like that price, but I don't got the plastic to order off the web

gotcha well I can't do nothing about that...

edit: looked at the website, they take checks. Never used a check with them before but I've gotten a fair amount of equipment from that site.

cool thanks for your help

well if you have a checking account you can most likely get a debit card for free.. if you're against using plastic, just rip it up after you use it this time. it's way worth it to buy stuff online.
